Warning upfront: This is NOT a daily driver or a beginner car. With very stiff suspension, performance motor mounts, and solid hardtop brackets this is a very RAW car. It's loud, it's not particularly comfortable. but MAN is it fun to drive. This should be purchased by an enthusiast with forced induction experience and/or experience with miatas. I will not be letting people take the car out for a test drive without legitimate interest, drivers license, insurance, etc.
Supercharger setup: The supercharger is from an incomplete BRP MP62 kit, freshly rebuilt supercharger (just reinstalled last weekend), custom intercooler, piping, BOV, and factory location throttle body. This means the blower is unthrottled. There are pros and cons to this set-up.
Summary: I purchased the car in 2016 totally stock with the intention of building an autocross car. After replacing the damaged door, sourcing a hardtop, and replacing 90% of the interior components, the car lost compression. Around 140k miles, I did a full rebuild of the motor with all machine work being done professionally, but all removal/install/assembly being done by myself. I deleted the power steering (the right way by taking apart the rack and cutting out the fluid separators) along with A/C. After building the motor, I stumbled upon an MP62 kit used locally. It was a nightmare as it was missing a ton of components and once I did get it running, the nose bearing started coming apart after about 1500 miles. I then had the supercharger rebuilt, which I just re-installed last weekend.
Long story short, the car has been to one autocross event (before rebuild) and has spent the remainder of it’s life being worked on or sitting. I rarely get to enjoy it and hate seeing it sitting in the garage un-used every day. It has been garaged for the entire time I have owned it.
Below you will find a list of cons along with the modification list which I am sure is missing things from over the years. I will not entertain low ball offers or people looking to come see the car without legitimate interest in purchasing it. It will not be driven without proof of insurance and financing or cash available.
Cons:
Needs new tires, the NT01s on it need to be replaced badly. The upside is you can choose your compound and size, which is important for folks wanting to autocross or track the car.
The paint is not perfect. The rocker panels were fully re-done in 2019 along with new paint for the hard top, but the car itself is still the original 1995 paint.
The passenger door does NOT unlock with the key. This is due to a door replacement in 2016.
