Vehicle Description
My daily driver since 2014. Smogged/Registered in Oct. Runs good but it has some issues.
Check engine light trips often for running lean due to induction leak. Tube from the air filter to vacuum plenum is split.
Check engine light has also given me an issue NOT illuminating for the smog man on key accessory on.checked bulb and fuses.not sure what the issue was but it started working again.no issue last smog.it was the year before. Leads me to believe electrical.
I have since started to leave it on when it trips for the running lean code so I know its working and clear for smog. I have a computer handy if you would like to scan it.
Oil pan has a small leak up front (looks like crank sensor but it's not). Its RTV seal and hard to do engine in vehicle with no lift.
Valve seals are bad (smokes on startup from sitting after a while but after a few seconds stops) Compression is still good.tested last summer, think one cylinder was low by 5psi. It picks up pretty quick.
Temp gauge is bad.bobbles if outside temp is above like 65 and doesn't move below.thermostat is good, I've replaced and does not overheat.
Power steering pump is iffy, still turns easy but has stiff moments.
Summer before last, I replaced tie rods and ends, front ball joints, clutch and heater core.
Last summer the driver side wheel bearing (passenger is still good).
I replaced the CV axles as well, just can't recall when.
4 wheel drive works great, it has manual hubs.passenger side is stiffer to turn. Could use a service there to alleviate.
Suspension is pretty stiff, and it shifts like butter. I drive it every day whether permitting.as you can see in the photos there are no rear windows for the top, it gets cold in the mornings. Good on gas, I get bout 28ish. Small gas tank though. (just shy of 10 gallons) It has a "Besttop" on it that is in good condition minus windows. I have a cheap OEM Replacement that was going to try and use just the windows but that doesn't work, but it's there in the photos and comes with it.
Does have some body damage there on the front and rear driver side, was there when I got it.
I have lots of parts for this vehicle,
full G16b motor with intake manifold, throttle body and plenum. I pulled from pick n pull, needs rebuild
5 speed manual 4x4 transmission. This transmission is bad and needs rebuild. You can shake and hear a rattle inside. I have not popped it open yet.
1 rear seat
3 clutch cables.(long story)
Main Computer for this model
Dash cluster and harness to computer
Main wiring harness (inside vehicle)
2 mass air flow sensors
Fuel Pump
Fuel rail and lines for top of engine (I've broken one of these)
Tail light, third brake light and some side markers
OEM Replacement Top (cheap)
Lock washer socket.very important and hard to find if you need to do the wheel bearings
I also have a digital copy of the FSM (Factory Service Manual).NOT hayes or chilton.this is the real deal. what they used in the factory.
I used it for work, backpacking and fishing. I like driving this more than my 2018 Rogue. I have a baby now and don't really get to do that stuff as much and no time to work on this either. Could go on n on bout what I planned but bottom line just not gonna have the time n I could use the space.
