Vehicle Description
1997 F-250 HD, 4x4, 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel, Automatic Transmission. Extended Cab, 8' bed. 4.11 gear ratio with LSD rear diff.
197,000 miles. New Transmission installed in June. New tires last december.
$8K OR BEST OFFER. I am open to negotiations.
The pros:
-Engine runs fine. It's a 7.3 with less than 200k, its barely broken in.
-New transmission this summer. Put in a billet torque converter at the same time. I still have the paperwork on it.
-New Tires less than a year old.
-4 wheel drive works. Front end (balljoints, hubs, bearings, tie-rod ends etc) was rebuilt a year or two ago.
-Professionally installed/tuned CB radio.
-LED fog lights.
-Tuner with high idle setting. The engine has stock injectors, so the max setting only REALLY makes any difference in the lower revs. I usually keep it one setting above stock.
-Nothing leaks.
The cons:
-The passenger door wont open from the outside. I'm sure it's an easy fix, I just cant be bothered to deal with it. It opens from the inside just fine, and the power window/lock still works.
-The front (18 gallon) fuel tank leaks. You can find them online for less than 100 bucks. The rear (16 gallon) tank is fine. While not towing, I can get 230 miles out of the rear tank alone.
-The stack is NOT connected to the exhaust pipe. The elbow fell off at some point back in July, and again, I couldn't be bothered to replace it.
-Engine block heater is malfunctioning. Kept popping the GFCI I was plugging it into last winter. I haven't diagnosed whether it's just the plug or the heating element, but the whole assembly is about 80 bucks. It still starts in the cold, you just gotta let the glow plugs do their thing and crank it a bit longer than normal.
-Seat fabric is pretty beat up. Doesn't bother me. Feel free to reupholster or put on some covers.
-A little bit of fender rot. It's a 22 year old truck. What do you expect?
That's really about it. The frame has surface rust on it, but isn't rotted, which is rare for a Rust Belt truck.
Like I said, it's 22 years old, and I'm like, the 6th owner; but its a 7.3 with less than 200k on the clock. Price is $8k, but make an offer. Worst I can do is tell you "no", but I'm trying to get rid of it before the week is out, so I can negotiate.
If you buy it from me before I buy my new truck this weekend (October 26th) you can even keep the Optima yellow top deep cycle batteries in it.
