This is a very special 1997 Honda Odyssey. It is a Honda factory Field Deck Pop Top model, all made in-house by Honda and only sold new in Japan. This one also comes in full time all wheel drive, an option that was never offered for sale here in North America. Honda announced the release of the Odyssey Field Deck in Japan, in September 1996. The production run continued from 1996-1998. The “Odyssey Field Deck” retains the driving performance and comfort of the Odyssey as a passenger car, but is equipped with an FRP pop-up roof and secures a sleeping space for two people inside the roof. It’s a very unique package, and only a few hundred were produced in total over the 2 year limited production run. This one coming in 4wd makes it even more uncommon, as that was an additional extra option. The van is only 6ft tall on the exterior, with the top down. Making it ultra compact. You can enter the pop to in two difference places, the front and rear. So if one person is still asleep, the other can go down without disturbing their partner. The tent material uses the same material as wetsuit fabric, very waterproof. It features a skylight and sunshade in the center part, and 3 large windows that all unzip – giving it a feeling of openness with excellent ventilation. The top can be completely latched and unlatched from inside the vehicle, so you don’t have to go outside to prepare the top. It’s incredibly well designed by Honda and an excellent package for your next adventure. The van has 3 rows of seats and seats 7 people total. The third row can stow away flush into the floor, the middle row can fold up neatly forward as well. The van also features power locks, power windows, power mirrors, ABS, front passenger and driver airbags. AC and Heat work wonderfully, in both the front and the rear. This van is powered by the same 2.2 Liter 4 cylinder engine that the Honda Odysseys sold here had, the body is also identical making sourcing parts and service very simple.
