Vehicle Description
This is a 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 with a 4.8L V8 and four speed automatic transmission. You don't see many of these around.
Pros:
- Runs and drives well.
- Sporty, fun, and comfortable.
- AC and heat works well.
- All spark plugs and spark plug wires are new.
- PCV valve is new.
- Air filter is new.
- Consistant oil changes. (Latest one done very recently.)
- Has been on multiple trips with no issue.
- Got an alignment when I purchased it around a year ago.
- Only rust I could find are some small surface spots.
- Comes with a Haynes repair manual and a couple of other things.
(All replacments have been done within a year.)
Cons:
- Engine shutters when parked in drive or reverse. Has gotten better since all the replacements but still somewhat there.
- Full of dings and scratches including a busted turn signal light that still works. (All from previous owners.)
- Interior is worn out, mostly with the headliner and front seats.
- Bad surface coat moslty on the roof.
- Trunk would fill with water when it rains. I fixed this recently with silicone sealant, so hopefully this isn't an issue anymore.
- Drivers side window doesn't roll up or down.
- Weather strip on the doors let air in.
- Door ajar light is usually on when it shouldn't.
- Has an aftermarket stereo that I don't undertand how to work, and appears to barely work in general.
- There are some other small things here and there I can point out if you come and look at it.
I purchased this car as a cheap daily driver to use while doing work to another car which is now finished. It did the job very well for me despite it's flaws. Another reason why I bought it is because I believe it's an interesting car with it's styling and with how uncommon it is, which is something I look for in vehicles.
$3200 or best offer, cash only. Call, text, or email me and ask as many questions as you need. Text and email is preferred due to my funky work schedule and the poor cell reception I get at work.
Thank you.
