1997 Saab 9000 CSE 5 speed Turbo Project Car, $1,275 (Centerville, Cape Cod, MA)
This Saab hatchback is very roomy, has a lot of storage, is very fast and is my daily driver with about 88,000 miles on a new engine from Goldwing. It is inspected and on-the-road, however it has developed some issues, the main one being that it is misfiring (P0300), always on start-up & idle, occassionally when underway.
Updated Feb 1, 2022
1. Difficulty starting in cold weather; accelerator has to be pressed down to start & until engine is warm to prevent stalling.
2. Rough idle, random misfire, P0300; occassional misfire/hesitation when driving.
The DIC, temperature sensors, and ECU have all been replaced (OEM); the spark plugs, compression and vacuum lines have all been checked, so the cause is still a mystery .
3. The engine cooling fan stopped coming on automatically. It may be an issue with the wiring, a switch was installed on the dashboard as a temporary fix. The radiator temperature gauge reads low, staying in the lower marking and does not pop-up, going only near the bottom of the middle marking when the engine is getting too hot.
4. The front axle boots should be replaced
5. The ABS light is on, the front left sensor needs to be replaced
6. The body is in good condition, with a couple of rust spots and a few small dents and dings (see pictures), there is probably some rust on the chassis, I have not checked underneath.
7. The rear left window has come off its track in the 'up' position (the mechanism works).
8. I haven't used the A/C, it may need a refill.
The car will come with 16" 3-spoke wheels with summer tires (which will need to be replaced soon). The 15" steel wheels with snow tires, which have lots of tread, shown in the first picture are available for an extra $200.
Although it needs work, my 9000 is a good little car, is fast with great acceleration, is very comfortable with an interior in good condition, lots of room for both passengers and storage (the rear seats fold down), sun-roof, heated seats, heated outside mirrors, Harmon-Karmen radio and CD player, has a smooth and stable ride, and gets about 19 miles per gallon in the winter around town.
Please send me an email for more information and pictures.
