Vehicle Description
1998 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas - Needs to leave my driveway!
Car runs, drives, and stops but needs a few repairs all over.
I'm out of driveway space so I'm willing to make a deal!
*150,000 miles (and counting)
*290hp 4.0 liter V8 engine
*5-speed automatic transmission
*Vanden Plas long-wheelbase model
*Unusual 'Amaranth' purple pearl paint
*Loads of leather, wood, power goodies, and sunroof
*Clean, private-owner Florida title
Good:
*The car was driven from its native Florida to Detroit in the past few months
*Engine runs pretty well without unusual noises
*Transmission shifts normally and feels firm
*Overall vehicle electricals are in good shape
- Power seats, windows, power steering column adjustment all work fine
- Auto climate control works well and AC blows cold!
*Stereo still puts out a lot of volume (tho speakers no longer pristine)
- Not sure if the trunk-mounted CD changer is working - haven't tried it
*3 of 4 tires are in great shape with good tread, the 4th is usable but marginal
Bad:
*Car was driven by an elderly gentleman who had a rough time avoiding solid objects
*Body scrapes and dents are all over from nose to tail - this isn't a pretty car
*Interior leather around the driver is usuable but worn
Needs a variety of small repairs
- ABS/Stability system isn't working (might need wheel speed sensor)
- Low coolant warning (reservoir pickup float probably stuck)
- Leaky engine valve cover gasket (burns oil when engine is warm)
- Battery runs down when car sits (battery replaced yet problem persists)
- Intermittent check-engine light (might be related to one of the above)
*Pretty nasty windshield chip right in sight area
*Variety of minor electrical gremlins to sort out
I have a number of other pictures of the car available. Contact me for details.
I'm asking for $1300 but expecting to negotiate - that's the price ballpark we're playing in.
No, you can't have the car for $400. Don't ask.
No trades.
Viewing by appointment only - contact me for arrangements
