Vehicle Description
1998 Toyota Camry LE, 4 CYL 2.2L. We drove before COVID and not driven (other than to keep it running) since Covid. We are selling because we don't need two cars. Here's a list of all the repairs we've done and when we did them (we have all the receipts for everything listed if interested):
First, though - it comes with TWO FULL sets of TIRES and RIMS - One full set of Winter Tires and Rims (on the car now) They are near brand new with full tread, very few miles. The SECOND set of tires are All Seasons and are mounted on a 2nd set of Rims (probably a year or so older than the winters). Very good tread. You won't be needing tires for a very looong time.
2020 Repairs (we drove less than 1,000 miles in 2020):
• New Battery from Advance Auto Parts
2019 Repairs (we drove about 2,200 miles in 2019):
• New Vapor Canister from RockAuto (so it could pass emissions without issue)
2018 Repairs (we drove about 5,700 miles in 2018):
• New Radiator (Premium/Complete)
• New Exhaust system from resonator on to (and including) the Muffler
• New Fuel Filler Hinge Spring
• New Gas Cap Replacement Seal
• New Ceramic Front Breaks
• New Brake Rotors
• New LED Lights, Lights and more lights - we upgraded every light we could conceivably access with LED versions. We did it initially because old Camrys are notorious for dim headlights because of wear to the lenses - they are not dim anymore, lol. - we continued to upgrade overhang to LED because it looks amazing. Here’s the full list of what we retained receipts for:
• New Hikari LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit-H4 (headlight x2)
• New Load Resistor to allow Highbeam Indicator to function properly with LED tech.
• New iBrightstar Tail Break Lights (trunk tail lights x2) - Brilliant Red
• New iBrightstar Back Up Reverse Lights (x2) - Xenon White
• New iBrightstar Tail Break Lights (high mount light x1)- Brilliant Red
• New iBrightstar Daytime Running and Turn Signal (x2)- White/Amber
• New iBrightstar Rear Turn Signal (x2)- Amber/Yellow
• New iBrightstar Rear Stop/Tail (x2)- Brilliant Red
• New iBrightstar Rear Side Market (x2)- Brilliant Red
• New LUYED 2x300 Dome Light (x1) Xeon White
2017 Repairs (we drove about 6,000 miles in 2017):
• New Timing Belt
2016 Repairs (we drove about 11,721 miles in 2016):
• New Alternator
Next, we took the car to the dealership a bit before COVID for them to give us their “Service Recommendations” (I kept that, too)… this is their list:
• Break Shoes/Drums Replacement (rear, probably obviously) - doubt they'd pull a rear for inspection, of course.
• Emergency Break Cable - (this one will need to be done before inspection).
• Suspension Radius Arm
• Alignment
Then are the additional items that we know need to be done, as well (things that came up after we took it to the dealership)
• Something needs fixing in the break system because we are losing pressure. A leak somewhere and a fast leak at that.
• Power Steering Leak - It leaks (more slowly than the break fluid) but will need to be addressed if you don’t have a lifetime supply of Power Steering Fluid!
That about covers it. You can see the interior and exterior in the pix. The car is solid, but had rust like you expect for a northern car. At least a northern car since 2012 when I bought it. The person before indicated highway miles (thus, the 200K) and generally salt-free driving (I bought it through my brother and neither of us can remember if it was listed as a souther car at the auction but we DO remember the body being particularly nice for our area).
Last, you'd want to plan to flatbed or tow the car as the break issues would not make it safe for you or others on the road. I know that will limit the interest, but your safety is more important than the number of inquiries I get.
Details for purchase, negotiation and communication. Texting is best, e-mail is fine. Please don't inquire if it's "still available" as I will remove it once it is sold. The price is fairly firm (after all, the list of new parts I listed above exceed the price I'm even asking!) Even so, I'll entertain offers (but not ridiculous ones). I can be fair, of course. And honestly I'll just be happy to have someone out there in a solid car that will put it to good use. I've owned 2 of these same year Camry's and they both ended up well over 250K miles. I love them as much as I loved my '98 Saturn that was still running over 300K!
I only accept Cash or Crypto. No credit, no checks, no PayPal, no Venmo. Only Cash or Crypto (most main coins and top Altcoins accepted (Prefer BTC, ETH, LTC or DOGE).
