Vehicle Description
For Sale: 1999 Mercedes W202 4.3L V8 producing 302hp in a lightweight chassis. Plenty of information online regarding this car if you are looking for more general background information. 1200 of these vehicles were produced in the US.
I purchased this car for my wife as a follow up from an earlier W124 we had when we got married. I bought this car over the phone from a dealer in OH after a friend who lived there looked it over for me. Professionally shipped to Portland. We use it as a summer car only and it has not seen Maine snow or salt. You can tell from the current odometer we aren't driving it very much. As it turns out with a kid and a dog it is just too impractical for us. No, the dog does not get in the car.
The exterior of the car is very clean and the paint is in good original condition. The exception was a dent in the hood (likely a golf ball) which which was professionally fixed by an auto body shop and re-sprayed.
Is this a collectable car? Yes. Is this a completely pristine example, no. But it is in very good shape, with a clean interior and exterior.
I have way more "invested" into this car than the price listed price but I'm also willing to accept reasonable offers for the right buyer. I am an honest seller looking to pass this along to a car enthusiast who will appreciate it. I am also 100% in a position to hold on to it for the future.
Will be uploading more pictures soon.
Work I had done to the vehicle:
Initial Maine Inspection, New Spark Plugs, Filters, Crankshaft Sensor, New light bulbs, replaced idler bushings. $1400
Transmission Overhaul, Transmission Tunnel Insulation, Lower Control Arm replacement with new bushings, new springs (drops suspension 1"), 4 wheel alignment, replaced oxygen sensors. Rear, main seal replaced, recharged AC. Cost - $6500
New Rear windshield- Previous owner had a rear window tint done that was completely shot and with adhesive. I chose to replace the window vs attempting to have it professionally removed. $400
OEM splitter for original AMG front bumber - $400
Hood repair/paint and bumper work: $1050
New Michelin Pilot Sport Tires: $890
New Battery - $160
What does this car need?
There was a leak in the passenger side windshield due to a clogged drain plug. It shorted the passenger side airbag sensor which needs to be replaced. Also related to the water leak the heater blower needs to be replaced. I will be fixing this in the near term unless the car sells prior.
