Vehicle Description
Here is a chance of a lifetime.
This Nash is most likely the 81 year old historic Pear Harbor survivor, shown in the photograph, taken December 7th 1941
Notice on the left side, in the foreground, on the dock, with an officer, looking at the bombing and destruction, during the Japanese invasion.
What a great photo!
We have many more pictures of the car as it is today, 81 years later, {also the parts car} they can be emailed…
This car is still in its original United States, Navy Grey #35 issued color and is completely unrestored, yet in remarkable condition.
What is known:
Not only has it survived “the test of time” and a World War, but has also remained intact {and drivable} up until the recent Pandemic outbreak.
In 2019 the original owner passed away and the car has been sitting ever since.
There are two cars offered for sale, the Navy Grey Nash and a nearly complete parts car complete with running gear.
Both cars were sold as part of an Estate Sale here on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Every indication from the estate, vintage decal in the window, to running the National Nash Club archives for Oahu have indicated this is the actual Nash in the photo.
To date, the War Museum curator in Pearl Harbor, has not found any indications to the contrary.
Both cars are 1941’s with clean titles.
Up until 2019 the Navy Grey Nash was Registered, Safty Checked and running here on the Big Island.
The parts Nash appears to be in running condition but has sat for a few years.
The Navy Grey Nash is now being stored in a horse shed, under cover in Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision, the parts car remains outside near by.
The interior is still intact and original, there’s a lot of history here…the tires appear to be from the mid 60’s with good tread.
The hydraulic brakes and clutch need to be bled from sitting.
The 6 volt battery most likely needs to be trickle charged or replaced.
Both sets of keys were with the cars when they were being transferred from the West Side to the East Side of the island.
They haven’t been located since the move, they are somewhere in the car or packages of parts or factory manual envelope.
We purchased these cars to make another Hilo Sampan and have plenty of spare parts.
After sleeping on it and talking with several collectors, it wouldn’t be right to cut it up for a Sampan.
We are willing to sell to recover our investment and hopefully find the right buyer.
If you are that buyer, give us a call or text.
At present, the Pearl Harbor War Museum is undergoing a few new displays, if you are seeking a fantastic Tax right off this is your chance to donate the Nash {and parts car} for historic value…we don’t need the Tax break.
This Nash belongs in a museum or at least in a nice garage here in Hawaii.
Mahalo Nui for looking.
Rags Ragland
Post Script,
May be open to a trade for something of equal value.
