Vehicle Description
2000 F-150 Super Cab Lariat, 5.4L 2V Automatic Transmission
The bad news, right side (passenger) head gasket leaks external in the rear. I just drove it to NW Florida for a week and it never overheated. I did add water a few times but I could go 150 miles easy without having to. While there and before the head gasket diagnosis I put a new thermostat in. It has had the coolant leak since I bought it in July. It was so small that I didn't really notice it for a while. It has a new set of coils and plugs. It runs great and shifts fine.
The following work fine: Power windows, mirrors, driver seat, A/C, AM-FM stereo, Cruise. It has a single CD player in the radio but I haven't tried it. I bought this truck in hopes of getting into shape and keeping as my daily driver but certain life changes have kept that from happening. I put a lot of sweat equity into it this summer. I put on a shift lever from the salvage yard as the OD button was intermittent, works fine now. It has a pretty nice looking passenger seat (Lariat Leather) from salvage yard. I just paid $250 to have the driver seat reupholstered and is very comfortable. Both rear doors operate correctly as I repaired the cables. I put a hitch on it. I did a lot of masking and painting with Rustoleum 2X spray paint in various colors and is a vast improvement from when I got it. I removed all the carpet in the cab and sprayed floor with bed liner, also sprayed the back bed with bed liner.
The following do not work: Power door locks and the temp/compass display overhead. The odomoter lights up about 50% of the time, you can tap the display sometimes to get it to work. The rest of the display works fine.
