Vehicle Description
Up for sale is my 2000 Honda Civic Si. EM1 chassis. Iconic Electron Blue Pearl over a dark grey fabric interior. Overall, this is an honest, original example that is 99% unmodified. Only modifications from stock are the rear control arms, a Pioneer head unit and OEM style foglights. Everything else is untouched. B16A2 motor is the original motor with a matching VIN tag. Sold as a running/driving project.
Original (female) owner purchased the car from Moses Honda in Barboursville, WV and kept the car for 14 years. Original window sticker and limited service records are included. Underside and body are clean despite being an Ohio car all of its life - only rust is some small surface spots where the paint has chipped. No structural rust anywhere on the body or underside - the car is very solid.
I am the 5th owner and purchased the car earlier this year. Under my ownership, I installed a new timing belt, water pump, oil pan gasket, new rotors/pads all around, rebuilt rear calipers, changed the oil/filter and performed a 4-wheel alignment. Enjoyed the car all summer, and it was especially nice to have while gas was $5 a gallon. Now selling to purchase a home - otherwise I would be keeping it.
The exterior is structurally solid, but cosmetically rough. Carfax reports 2 accidents - one minor one in 2001, and another in 2005 to the left front. Headlights are not OEM, and the driver's side fender and door are missing the VIN tags, which would be consistent with this report. VIN stickers are present on the passenger side fender, passenger side door, passenger door jamb, driver side door jamb and trunk lid. Firewall also shows a VIN stamped into the metal. Body shows chipping/flaking/peeling and fading throughout. There are some spots where the paint has a rough texture to it. Car would benefit from a full body respray. Paint shows some tape lines around both rear quarter windows where previous repainting was done. Rear bumper has an area on the passenger side where it is coming detached and shows some minor collision damage. Minor dent in the driver's side front fender. Windshield has a crack at the base of the driver's side - rest of the glass is fine. Rear fender arches are solid and do not show rust like many EM1s do - even the original rubber moldings are still present. Photos capture a sampling but not all exterior defects - inquire for more pictures.
Interior is very clean for its age. I would rate it an 8.5/10. Non-smoker owned. No major rips, tears or damage. All electrical features work as they should. AC blows cold, heat blows hot. The original head unit has been replaced with a Pioneer. Shift knob is worn from age and mileage. Headliner is tight and does not show sagging.
Mechanically, the car runs and drives well. Engine revs to VTEC without hesitation and transmission shifts smooth. Engine is original to the car - has not been swapped. New timing belt and water pump installed under my ownership. Exhaust appears to be original, except for the muffler which has been replaced at some point. Clutch does not slip, but is presumed to be the original one. Check engine light is on for either an O2 sensor or the catalytic converter (Code P0420) - does not affect the way the car drives.
Wheels show oxidation and wear - would benefit from a refinishing job. Tires are nearly new OHTSU tires, made by Sumitomo. They show approximately 8/32" of tread and 2019 date codes.
Car has a few other small issues I've noticed from driving it throughout the summer - driver's seat belt works but does not retract all the way. Passenger side window goes up and down, but is slow. One bolt for the rear license plate is broken off. Shocks/struts will need replacement soon.
Original window sticker, owner's folio, limited service records from the 1st owner, receipts for the parts I installed, 2 regular keys, 1 valet key and 1 remote will be included.
Sold privately - clean Ohio title in hand. Cashier's check is my preferred form of payment.
This is a running/driving project that drives well overall, but is in need of cosmetic attention.
Many more photos available upon request.
In-person inspection welcome and encouraged in Cincinnati, OH.
Vehicle is sold as-is, where is.
