Some HISTORY so you know what you would be buying.
I bought this from a St. Croix Valley dealer in January 2020. I paid $3995 at dealer.
> CarFax showed was in Georgia for winters. I only buy very clean rust free southern or west coast vehicles.
> Had 138k miles on it then. See PHOTOS.
> Appeared had a rebuilt engine at 125k miles. See PHOTOS.
> Ran great all of 2020.
In July 2020, my son and I rebuilt the complete suspension and upgraded to 20" wheels,
for a look and ride we have been wanting try on one of these early bubble RXs for a while.
My son and I put in a couple thousand dollars of new parts and time into this to bring suspension back up to like new.
> New KYB struts and strut mounts.
> New high performance ceramic pads all around and front calipers.
> All new ball joints all around.
> All 4 wheel bearings new.
> 2 new front steering knuckles. Original front bearings still stuck at press' 20 tons, so ordered new knuckles.
> New front half shafts. Rear half shafts felt good, so I flipped sides with these. And all 4 differential seals.
> New inner and outer tie-rod ends.
> New longer racing wheel studs and H&R aluminum spacers, and black lug nuts.
> 20" Toyota Venza rims with Michelin tires, for summer driving.
> New Blizzak DM-V2 snow tires on stock rims for winter driving, only 1/2 winter on them.
> New fluids and new VVT cam position solenoids.
> Ran and handled great. 23 MPGs and a peppy fun ride on these 20" wheels.
February 2021 when my Dad was using our RX.
> Started not running good, then he said he could not start it.
> Sat in his garage next couple months.
> I was too busy with my job in Minneapolis to tackle it myself, so I had it flat-bedded to Virginia Toyota for engine diagnostic and repair Spring 2021.
Unfortunately had it back at dealer shop twice.
> First round I had tranny flushed and front diff oil replaced.
> They determined was only 1 bad fuel injector.
> But engine light came back on in their service lot when I paid for and picked it up. They said drive it a while.
> A week later, it crapped out in Virginia on me. So this 2nd time, they had it about 4 weeks and said was finally fixed. Said it was an O2 sensor. But I said keep it and drive for another week to confirm repaired.
> My Dad and I picked it up, but then 68 miles later the engine light came back on, and random running problems continued.
> Both times they said was fixed and $$$$ in bills.
> This time I removed the intake manifold and did my own top side diagnostic. See notes on PHOTOS. Unfortunately obvious it needed a full engine rebuild.
Once again, it has been sitting in my Dad's garage since July 2021, myself way too overbooked last 6 months to find time to tinker. My son and I are finishing his gen lll 4runner complete suspension rebuild this month when my regular job has its January slow pulse. My other sports car's engine suddenly started talking back at me last week, so our RX is available at the moment.
