Vehicle Description
Inquiries without a phone # will not be responded too. Sorry, too much spam and idiot CL'ers
2000 Pontiac Grand Am for parts or repair. 137,128 miles. Front of motor has been torn apart to repair leaking timing cover. We have decided to not put any more time/money into the vehicle and move on.
No bull description:
Good:
- low miles for it's age
- everything worked as it should including engine, trans, a/c, etc. except for notes below
- new serpentine belt and tensioner, driver's window motor, front pads, headlight bezels, rear struts
- new Michelins earlier this year
- ~$500 in minor repairs earlier this year including abs harness, oil pressure switch, maintenance check, etc.
- decent interior (seats and panels would be good donors)
Bad:
- driver's kick panel needs installed (in trunk),
- dash pad is curled on the edges assumingly from heat/sun damage
- typical grand am rocker panel rust
- my daughter bumped into several things so front and rear covers, front right fender, rear left fender and hood all have issues
- horn has assumed short - it occasionally beeps when running (short beep not blaring and not frequently)
- may need front left wheel bearing
- front right sway arm link needs replacing, noticed broken during motor work
Ugly:
- Timing cover leak slowly at first then too much to run vehicle. Front of motor was torn apart to repair. Most connections and bolts, etc. were tagged and/or bagged for earier repair. Haynes manual included with sale. Will need oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket set, timing chain/spokets. Cam and crank were set as necessary for proper replacement of chain; both were marked with marker in case the accidently moved.
- Fuel and brake lines have typical Michigan corrosion. I repair a fuel line near the rear axle this past winter. We blew a brake line (believe front left) when moving the vehicle into the garage. It will need repair.
Vehicle owned by older single lady much of it's life, then older gentleman for a couple years before my daughter got it in 2015. Vehicle has been sitting in garage for about 6 weeks and down for 8 weeks.
$500, offers considered; low ballers take a hike (I have an offer from the scrap yard). If not sold, I will part out and scrap the rest. Feel free to inquire about parts. I will likely let this ad run for a ~week first.
