Vehicle Description
2001 Hyundai Accent 4-door Sedan with about 158K miles
Runs really well, gets around 30 mpg. Our son has put almost 10,000 miles on this car over the last year commuting to work without any issues other than maintenance items. (He just recently purchased himself a truck.)
Tires are in excellent shape and ready for winter. Has an engine heater. Replaced all the belts including the timing belt at 148,200 miles. Also replaced the front brake pads & rotors at that time, the heater blower motor/fan assembly, and the fuel line evaporative canister. We’ve changed the oil & filter every 3500 miles. Interior is a little rough but has been cleaned and vacuumed thoroughly and the seats have even been shampooed. New radio. 4 extra rims with old tires on them.
Quirks: some body rust; burns a little oil – about ½ quart every 500-600 miles or so; fuel fill pipe is apparently slightly smaller in diameter than standard American cars so fill-ups take a little longer; an engine light has been on for like the last 10 months. We’re told it means the catalytic converter probably needs replacing. Direct fit bolt-on catalytics can be purchased online starting at about $300 and that would be the next thing I would do on this car if we still had a need for it.
