Vehicle Description
2001 Mercedes E55 AMG For Sale.
Drives good, recently just took a trip to Florida and back for the holidays and the car gave me zero issues. One of the last true AMG cars from Mercedes. I bought this in 2020 as I always admired these cars, starting working to bring it back into the condition I wanted it to be. Honestly a very solid car and I would say it's an original survivor, it will need some work to finish it. But all body pieces are in tact with no serious defects. The next step for me however was to deal with the wheel well rust and probably let someone do a paint correction, I'd say the paint is the worst part about this car, it just shows it's age. Mechanically it's very strong and the only thing I would be doing next is the valve cover gaskets. It's driven occasionally but I got other vehicles and projects so it's probably time for someone else to finish it.
Recent Maintenance Work (12/2020) ~$2,200
- Reseal Oil Pain
- Oil Filter Housing/Cooler Gaskets
- Drive Belts
- Headlights renew
- Engine and Transmission Mounts
- Transmission Service (fluid/filter)
- Oil Change
Known Issues:
- Rust in front wheel wells, looks to be mostly surface (see photos)
- Washer reservoir leaks (needs to be replaced)
- Valve covers weep
- AC works but in full disclosure during my ownership it has needed a recharge so there may be a leak somewhere.
- Some pixels in cluster are dead (see photo)
- Vanity mirror flip covers broken
- Rear power sunshade doesn't go up and down properly, never bothered to look into why, I just leave it down.
- One side on the rear of the headliner is starting to detach a bit and will need to be fixed.
