Vehicle Description
Selling my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, $1800/BO as is. I leave on East Coast and I will either drive the car there or sell it and fly back. The car will be off market in about a week or two. Leave your contact info if interested and I will call you in the evening.
The car has 164000 miles on it and drives very well, but needs repairs (see below). The car is located in Berkeley/Oakland, CA. Title status is clean. Tires (Continental PURECONTACT WITH ECOPLUS TECHNOLOGY - THE BEST AVAILABLE TIRE) are in good condition; they have less than 10,000 miles on them.
In the interest of full disclosure:
- The car is originally from the east coast, so there is rusting. The rear shocks are in good condition as they were replaced in 2014.
- The AC is not working; I do not know the reason. It may be that it needs recharging, or may be a bigger issue.
- I suspect the starter will need to be replaced soon, but I have a new starter and it will be included with the car.
- The car needs a new battery.
- The "Check Engine" light is on and shows the following codes: P0401, P0455, P0335, P0135. These are all minor issues; however, you will need to repair them in order to pass smog before you can register the car. Feel free to contact me for details on the error codes.
- There are some dents and scratches to the exterior (see photos).
- Because of the dent to the front driver's side, the driver's door doesn't open all the way and does not stay open on its own. However, it opens wide enough to easily enter/exit the car (see the last picture).
- There is a minor glitch in the locking mechanism for the driver's side door. The lock mechanism works, but in order to unlock the vehicle from outside you need to unlock the passenger door (unlocking the passenger door unlocks the whole vehicle).
- The trunk must be propped open, as it does not stay open on its own, new struts are about $20
- Car fax report lists three accidents by the previous owner. I have no information about how serious those accidents were.
To reiterate, I believe all of these to be minor issues. The car needs repairs. But it drives very well and in our experience it has been pretty reliable and fun.
