Vehicle Description
For Sale is a 2001 Saturn SC2 (Sport Coupe) 3-door in the very rare yellow color.
The price is $1500.00 Or Best Offer.
The car has never been wrecked or had any paint or body repair. It looks pretty much like a new car - but then again, it's a Saturn, and the plastic body parts last for decades.
My wife bought the car new from Saturn of Syracuse in 2001. In fact, it was the dealership owner's demo vehicle.
Several years ago, she bought a new Mazda and I bought the Saturn from her.
The tires weren't great, so I bought a new set of steel wheels and tires for the car. The factory aluminum wheels are prone to corrosion and leaks, so that solved the problem. So if you ever send the car to a salvage yard, you can remove the new wheels and tires, put on the old set and sell the new set separately.
The seats are black leather and in good shape.
The Sony radio is a major upgrade from the factory unit.
The remote trunk switch still works, but the remote door entry features do not.
The glass is all good an has no leaks.
The power windows work fine.
There is a sunroof, but it does not open.
The spare tire has never been removed from the trunk and still has 60 pounds of air in it.
The engine and transmission are in good shape and do not leak.
The engine is the 1.9L DOHC (Double Overhead Cam) 4 cylinder.
Now for the bad stuff:
The power steering unit needs a hose, because of a leak - and it's hard to steer while sitting still. I'm assuming it's the hose that's leaking, but it could be the pump or the steering rack.
The brakes need some work - and the emergency brake cable sticks.
The exhaust system is intact and complete with a catalytic converter, but is a bit on the loud side.
The rear frame is pretty rusted right where it goes up at the rear of the doors - and there are several small sections where it is rusted clear through. I would recommend that it is looked at by a professional. This is an area where you shouldn't take any chances.
If it is being purchased as a 'parts car' there are plenty of great parts to swap over onto another vehicle.
Thanks for looking.
