Vehicle Description
For sale is a 2002 Acura 3.2CL Type-S with 75,000 miles.
I purchased this car a year ago and have put around 12,000 miles on it. I enjoy driving it but have two young children and dealing with car seats in a coupe is more of a nuisance than I had hoped (I should have known). So I’m now looking for a sedan. If it weren’t for the kids, I would keep this car and run it to 200k.
The car is very clean overall. This was a one-owner car when I purchased it. The interior is in great shape with no tears in the seats and the leather-wrapped steering wheel not being abraded. The exterior is clean as well, though does have some imperfections including some scratches, various door dings, and a quarter-sized rust spot under the paint on the driver’s side rear quarter panel at the rear of the wheel arch. All these imperfections are minor and were present when I purchased the car.
Mechanically, this car is sound. In spring 2019, I had the timing belt, water pump, and the front engine mount replaced. I replaced the brakes including new drilled and slotted rotors and new pads for all four wheels. I installed a set of 17” OEM Acura wheels off a 2015 TLX to modernize the look a bit and wrapped them in Nokian ZLine all season tires (OEM side 215/50R-17). There is currently a check engine light on with a P1456 code (evap system). I replaced the fuel filler cap and the purge control solenoid under the hood, but the code returned, and I haven’t had a chance to have it repaired. If I had a lift and the time, I would troubleshoot myself. Drivability is unaffected.
For convenience, I installed a Bluetooth/AUX cable receiver that is plugged into the CD changer on the rest of the stock head unit. The stereo sound is crisp and clear. I also fitted a back up camera that mounts discreetly behind the license plate and installed a rear view mirror with an embedded 4.3” screen for the backup camera. I had the windows tinted as well (35% front/15% rear).
This car drives smoothly and quietly, the engine revvs easily and has great acceleration for on-ramps and passing. The brakes are powerful and stop the car with solid pedal feel. I have average 26.5 MPG. It does a bit better than that when my wife drives it (with a lighter foot).
I’ve included several pictures of the exterior that I took as well as interior pics I saved from when I bought the car last fall (since they are more detailed). The interior condition is unchanged and I treat the leather seats with Lexol cleaner and conditioner every four months or so.
Please e-mail with questions. Thanks for looking.
