Vehicle Description
2002 Audi A6 3.0L Quattro, Sunroof, Premium sound, Navigation system and rear window shades. Full leather heated seats, all power.
One owner, no accidents! Vehicle was purchased in NJ, and stored in a Brooklyn, NY garage the past 18 years. Majority of the mileage is from highway travel. The engine is strong and there are no drive ability problems with this car. The vehicle shifts, drives, and handles well on the freeway. My sister had problems getting the car to pass a NY state emissions test due to the check engine light. Local NYC repair shops were jerking her around and she decided not spend the money on the repairs, she ultimately decided to purchased a newer Audi in Virginia while visiting me in Maryland.
This is a great car for a mechanic or someone with enough vehicle maintenance experience. I think a waiver can be worked for the transmission code if there was not desire to correct.
The exhaust system has a minor audible leak when the engine is cold, once the engine warms up the leak goes away. I assume the flex gasket is leaking (inexpensive fix), which may be causing the P0431 trouble code. The navigation system needs to be reset post a battery change, one CD appears to be missing from the original package that came with the car if that matters. Body has numerous blemishes from parking garage and city street parking.
The ECU throws two Check Engine trouble codes. The codes can be cleared but return post driving for a short while.
Trouble Codes are:
P0741 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit (this does not cause any drive ability problems)
P0431 - Warm up catalyst
The car recently had the following installed:
- New battery
- Four new Continental Tires, and full sized spare
- Oil was changed regularly
- At approximately 115K miles the timing belt was changed (Kit - water pump, tensioner, etc if I recall correctly)
Car has been pulled off the road due to NYC insurance rates, so it no longer has license plates which impacts a test drive.
According to the internet, vehicles similar to this appear to sell between $3500-$4000
Asking: $1500 cash - OBO
