I bought this truck in 2015 as a salvage with front end collision damage. The truck was purchased due to its rare color and fantastic condition besides the damage.
The first repair to the truck was the frame. The front passenger side was bent out a few inches and was professionally pulled. Have photos of it on the machine.
The truck received a new OEM radiator guard and the cooling system was restored. The radiator and fan blade were used from a donor Lightning.hq
With the truck currently without a nose I gave it a “New to me Lightning full service” which included:
Supercharged removed for Intercooler cleaning
Spark Plugs
Ignition coils
Cleaned Intercooler Pump
Cleaned Air Intake Filter
Changed Oil
Changed Belts
Changed Fuel Filter
Changed Transmission Fluid, Filter and Gasket
Changed Supercharger Oil
After a thorough maintenance I also replaced the exhaust to a Magnaflow Catback, OEM transmission cooler, 170 thermostat, and BBK throttle body.
The truck went for suspension work at Plus Zero motorsports.
The rear diff was opened and inspected.
Drive Shaft replaced with a lightweight aluminum shaft.
New OEM Rotors and Hubs
EBC Brake Pads
Bell tech 2/3 Lowering Kit
QA1 Shocks
The truck was dyno tuned by Powerplant Motorsports and made:
335 WHP
431 FT TQ
Dyno sheets included
The body work was done by a private shop. All of the parts to repair the body were brand new oem except for the hood and passenger fender which came off a Lightning donor. The truck was painted bumper to bumper in True Blue except for the door jams and bed which was already in beautiful new condition. An aftermarket smooth tail gate handle and Cervini wing were installed. The antenna on passenger side was shaved and an in-dash antenna needs to be installed.
While the bed was off, since the truck was being painted the fuel pump was replaced with new oem, along with all of the fuel hoses local to the pump.
The headlights, corner lights, and tail lights were all rare NOS parts. The fog lights are aftermarket.
The lower grille was NOS and the upper was off a donor Lightning.
The most recent changes were new 20” replica
Wheels with tires about two months ago. The tires have no more then 300 miles on them. The rear calipers and pads were replaced about 50 miles ago.
Although the Lightning has a rebuilt title it is one of the cleanest True Blues in the country. It was restored meticulously and has been well cared for. I unfortunately never have time to enjoy it and have other projects that need my attention. With over 30k in receipts my loss is your gain. Don’t miss out on a chance to get a True Blue in this condition. I’m sure I’m forgetting something but I tried to describe it as best as I can. Ive had a lot of fun with this truck and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive across the country with it tomorrow if I could.
Many spare parts will be included, including the tow hitch. It was removed because this wasn’t used for towing. Electronic brake control is installed.
The Cons
Minor marks or paint imperfections
Small rust spot on bed as shown in photos
Air conditioner needs evacuation and charge
Makes a clicking noise if you turn the wheel to far in either direction, I believe it is from the lowering kit.
Upper control arm bushings are worn
Radio needs an in dash antenna
Sometimes fuel gauge reads Empty but it’s not
Minor wear on seats
