Vehicle Description
Pains me to do, but I don't have the time to get around to fixing this so I'm listing my Jaguar XJR before it sits any longer. Asking $3k obro, may consider oddball trades (this is a big maybe).
2002 Jaguar XJR. 4.0 liter V8 supercharged 370hp / 385tq. A very comfortable and competent freeway cruiser.
Approximately 192,000 miles or thereabouts. Runs, drives and stops fine with some big caveats.
This car WILL need towed home - or to a garage to do some basic repairs before being driven.
This an R1 package car so rare compared to the standard XJR, similar standard equipment to the XJR-100 - main feature is the upgraded Brembo brakes compared to the standard cars. Yes, those that know the R1s know that the brakes can be expensive to maintain - but this car will also come with a complete replacement set of pads + rotors ready to go.
Details - have owned for 7 years, put on approximately 40k fairly troublefree miles (mostly long cruises), wonderful car prior to the body damage. Car has needed very little other than fuel and consumables (tires/brakes/etc.) in my time with it. Engine runs strong, no leaks etc. Obviously this is a very high mileage car but in my experience the engine is rather under stressed even with the boost and I always felt comfortable with this car as a semi-daily. started every time and never stranded me.
The BAD
This car needs bodywork and also is not currently in a state that I would feel safe driving it in. It needs the following at minimum:
- Bodywork on the right side of the car (see photos). Car tagged a guardrail in cold/wet conditions and damaged front quarter, both doors and rear quarter. I do not know the cost to fix this, though I have priced doorskins/fenders etc. This may be an easy project if you know bodywork as damage is superficial, but its beyond my skill and energy at this point
- Passenger's side front wheel bearing . cost approximately $500 plus install. This is the primary thing affecting roadworthiness, and will need repaired before any real driving is done
- Rear tires will need replaced for inspection
- Battery is shot (may replace before sale)
- Needs a wiper fluid tank
- Likely an oil change at this point
- Driver's side interior door panel is loose and needs new snaps (annoying, doesn't affect function)
- Interior isn't trashed but does need a polish
The Good
- Title is clean
- No engine/transmission woes, ran strong for me and has been run recently
- This is a 2002 car so no plastic timing tensioners - a big plus
- Brakes are in good shape
- Car comes with extra set of R1 pads / rotors so no brake worries for a long time - I forget the exact cost but this would be a decent percentage of the asking price
- Aftermarket Coventry 18" wheels which are also worth some $$$
Obviously this is the type of project that will really only appeal to a certain type of person, so please be mindful of what is involved before contacting me. This may be a relatively easy project, but I just don't have the time and energy at the moment and I don't want to see this car rot into the ground, would rather have it be restored and enjoyed by someone who cares.
Asking price is best reasonable offer, car is sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. Please don't ask me to part the car. If you like what you see, come with a trailer and take her home.
Texts preferred, emails are fine, please leave a VM if calling.
