Vehicle Description
This is a 2003 Porsche Boxster S 3.2l 5 speed triptronic unfinished project car. This Boxster S has a clean Texas title with 123,365 actual miles and was bought at auction. This Boxster S has an M96.24 engine and is my fifth Boxster S project car. The car runs and drives but only on bank no.2 with cylinders Nos. 4, 5 and 6 operating correctly. Cylinder bank no.1 has misfiring on cylinders 1, 2 and 3 probably due to the intake camshaft variable valve timing adjuster being stuck, jammed or broken in the over advanced position. A new Porsche OEM camshaft solenoid has been installed in bank no. 1. The oil pan, oil pump pickup tube, de-aerators have been removed and cleaned. A new oil filter housing with filter element has been installed. BG Chem detergent has been run through the engine, but the
bank no. 1 cylinders are still misfiring. The engine oil has been changed twice an attempt to free up the variocam adjuster for bank no.1. This Boxster S engine had severe oil sludge in it before cleaning and will need to be removed for further cleaning and repairs. The source of the sludge is probably coolant mixing with engine oil which can be from several sources but most likely a cracked cylinder head. There are competent engine machine shops that can
repair cracked M96 type engine cylinder heads. The vinsverify history for this Boxster S shows no crash damage but there are body scratches and some dents present on the body. There is a new battery installed and there are new front and rear hood and trunk support struts, as well as a recent water pump and drive belt installed prior to my purchase. The seats are in need of repair or replacement. This Boxster S is will need to be towed to its next destination. I have a set of low mileage M96.24 S cylinder heads available for $1000.00.
The reason for selling is that my rented shop will not be available for me after 12-31-2020.
