Vehicle Description
Our family needs to upgrade to a truck as our second vehicle for our farm and hauling needs, so we sadly have to part with our Impala. Otherwise we had planned to keep her forever.
The car has been meticulously cared for mechanically by both the previous owner and ourselves, with routine maintenance and inspections and easy/safe driving. It's extremely reliable. We've had this car for three years and have had zero issues. It's truly in outstanding mechanical condition and has plenty of life in it as a family vehicle, commuter vehicle, starter vehicle, anything.
Highlights:
- Clean title and in hand
- 88,280 miles
- 3.4L V6 engine in excellent condition, as well as all other mechanical components
- Average mpg 20-22 city, 28-30 highway
- New oil, filter, and air filter change November 2020
- New tires April 2019 (driven less than 5,000 miles)
- New brake pads Oct 2019
- Battery from 2017 (due for 5-year replacement in 2022)
- Oil, filters, fluids, belts, brake pads, and all other components maintained or replaced regularly according to manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
- AC/heat work great
- Very comfortable seating and smooth ride
- Flip-up front middle console to seat 6
- Massive trunk space for just about anything
- Clean undercarriage: No leaks, no significant rust damage
Things to note:
- The exterior shows signs of regular wear, including minor scuffs, scratches, and nicks, which I've zoomed in on in some of the images.
- Front arm rest shows wear from use, shown in the images.
- The passenger side dash above the glove box has a crack, shown in the images.
- Parts of the carpets show signs of minor staining from ordinary use.
- One of our 3 keys to the car seems to be worn and sometimes causes the starter to continue to run for a couple seconds after the engine has started. It doesn't happen with the other two keys, only the one key for some reason. Not sure why, and it's not all the time, just occasionally.
- There is an open "Unintended ignition key rotation" recall for the car keys, too trivial to be worth my time going in to address it yet (just haven't gotten around to it), so it remains open. Basically the manufacturer wants to make the keyring opening on the key smaller so that a hefty set of keyring accessories doesn't weigh it down and accidentally rotate the key to off. We never carry that much on the keyring so we haven't bothered.
- I replaced the passenger windshield wiper because it kept coming loose and not wiping with the rotating lever. It's good now, but still needs to be tightened every once in a while.
- About 2 or 3 times a year, the check engine light comes on for a few days and then goes away, for two reasons: Either throws an emission error and blames the gascap, which is resolved by taking the gascap off and back on or on the next fuel refill, or throws a coolant sensor issue that I previously resolved by flushing the coolant system. Our mechanic has confirmed that both codes are not an issue and just the car cycling through standard system checks that throw occasional flags during cold weather particularly.
