Vehicle Description
2004 Ford Expedition XLT 5.4L V8 - $6,000
This vehicle is in great condition and is very reliable. A true SUV that can tow, go off road (and you can sleep in the back), carry full sheets of plywood or shuttle 8 people around.
Features and specs:
5.4L V8 with automatic transmission
Four wheel drive – 2H, 4A, 4H, 4L
Heavy duty tow package
Grey cloth seats
3rd row seating
Tilt steering
Cruise control
Adjustable pedals
Tires: Big-O Bigfoot X/T, LT265/70/R17 M+S (most of tread remains)
My mods:
Rebuilt sagging driver’s seat.
Installed 2” lift.
Installed Alpine stereo with rear camera.
Replaced door speakers with JBL concert series.
Installed under-seat subwoofer.
Replace headlights and fog lights.
Replaced all door latches to eliminate rattle.
Notable repairs:
Replaced steering shaft assembly (eliminated play in steering).
Replaced fuel pump.
Replaced timing chain.
Replaced intake manifold assembly.
Replaced alternator drive belt tensioner, both idler pulleys and serpentine belt.
Vehicle condition:
The Expy has its share of body dings and scratches, but it still looks nice. I have a dash mat on it for ongoing protection, but there are no cracks in the dash. The steering wheel has sun damage, so I have a cover on it. The interior has various stains, but no rips in the seats. I think the only thing that doesn’t work is the rear wiper motor.
Why am I selling?
I wanted to get a new Jeep or new Bronco to have a bit more off-road capability and keep the Expy as my second vehicle. Couldn’t bring myself to spend $50K-$60K for either. Decided to get a newer Expedition instead. I now have a 2015 Expedition and my wife wants me to get rid of the 2004, although I would just as well keep it, knowing all the work and fixes that have gone into it.
