Vehicle Description
I have for sale a 2004 Saturn ion Redline 5 speed manual with 134529 on the clock. I bought the car as a project about a year ago and never got around to it. I drove it home when I bought it and it made it just fine. It needs a lot of Maintance to get it rite though. I was going to replace all of the front suspension components and then upgrade the supercharger/ic etc. The drivers side mirror is busted off from something happening while it was in storage. The previous owner installed a boost gauge and ran it through the drivers door instead of the firewall. The supercharger makes instant boost still and the car pulls as it should for a factory setup, sort of surprised me how quick it was for 205hp and 200tq.
The bad- drivers side window does not work, I think it’s the switch/fuse though as none of the buttons on that door work the passenger side window only goes up and down using the switch on the passenger side door. The hood does not latch fully closed unless you really slam it. The safety latch works fine still. Wiper motor and transmission are shot and need to be replaced. That was half tore apart as well when I got it so it had no wipers even on it. Previous owner clamped on some 2.5 or 3in exhaust after cutting the factory off. Second gear feels funny when you shift into it, no grinds even at redline from first(checked when I bought it because this concerned me) it feels like it only goes half way in but never pops out or grinds. Not sure why it feels like that but the rest feel normal. Like I said it works perfectly though just feels funny. Has a slightly rough idle at times probably vacuum related as the boost gauge install appears to be a botch job. Needs pads and rotors all around and the suspension work. Tires don’t hold air for long, aluminum wheel problems. I’m sure I’m forgetting something I found. I’m trying to be more honest than the guy I got it from, who told me it was ready to go as it sits now.
The good-ac blows ice cold and the heat roasts the passenger compartment. Supercharger spools rite up. Doesn’t smoke. Runs and drives just doesn’t feel how it could with new parts. Good gas mileage if you stay off the gas pedal. Has started easily every single time I have tried it even after sitting for months and with year old gas. Sun roof works. Honestly this doesn’t seem like a bad car if you have the time to work on it, it seemed like a good starting point for a fun dd or a mild track day car. Lots of aftermarket support and race parts available for this chassis and engine combo. Comes with new CV axles if I don’t get lowballed into the ground. $200 value rite there
