Vehicle Description
2004 Toyota Camry Solara Couple SLE V6
Silver metallic over Gray Leather interior with Burgandy "burl wood" trim on interior surfaces.
I purchased this car two years ago with 125K miles for a commuter and used it as part of a two car rotation, until I picked up a third car. This car has had only about 1K miles in the last 12 months. The last consistent driving was about two weeks last February during the Snow-Maggedon event. Front wheel drive tracks like it's on rails !
Previous owner bought this new from one of the Toyota dealerships in FTWorth. She had it serviced there religiously, and traded it in for another Toyota. The dealership sold it to a former employee who installed new suspension components in the rear and a few other things. I bought it from his dealership and have been very happy with it.
After 2 or 3 k miles, I took it back to the FTWorth dealership and had a 4 wheel alignment, and replaced the "lifetime" automatic transmission fluid (after 15 plus years, I thought it was a good idea). The dealership performed the transmission flush and fill using 8 liters of the Toyota "factory wunder-fluid" for transmissions. (I always use factory fluid for drive train fluids).
While I was having it serviced at the Dealership, I had them print a full copy of the services done by the original owner. Very impressive ! She used the dealership for everything, even windshield blades !
Other work: In addition to the transmission service and oil service at the dealership, I added 2 new tires in front last February (before the snow event), had a front end alignment, had the vacuum system "box" replaced, a new alternator, starter, and battery replaced in spring of 21.
So, Transmission, Tires, Electrics are updated ! The Timing belt was replaced by the previous owner at the dealership at about 90k miles, so that is fine as well.
The car runs beautifully, and the Variable Valve V-6 really like to stretch it's legs (although I've never run past about 4k on the tach). The automatic transmission is smooth and quick to engage, and the Manual option is fun too.
So this is the kind of car you want to buy ! Babied by the original owner and treated to new services and work by the second owner. This is the commuter car I NEEDED, I just fell in love with an older car and had to have it, so this one needs a new home. Would be perfect for a commuter, college car, or anything you need. Toyotas are very reliable and with a great service history like this, and regular servicing, you could double these miles easily.
This car looks good, drives great, and does not have the WIND or HIGHWAY noise of the convertibles of this generation. (I almost bought a convertible Solara but with the top UP, the highway noise of cars around me was very distracting - sounded like they were in my back seat!)
Negatives:
1) There is a 6 in tear in the seam on the drivers seat bottom. the perforated leather seats are prone to do this. I put a set of inexpensive auto zone covers on the front seats, but I'm sure the seat could be reinforced and mended by a pro.
2) The dashboard was replaced under recall for the "cracks" that Toyotas developed and looks great. However the "low" dash area around the glove box does have some cracks in it . don't know if they developed after the recall or not.
3) The "shell" covering the drivers side mirror was cracked by a security gate that jumped out at me at the parking lot where I work during the snow and Ice last Feb. It's been glued together, but could be replaced to look better !
Engine condition: Described above. All routine servicing including Timing Belt and Trans axle fluid changed ! New Alternator, Battery, Starter, Vacuum module, two new tires and front alignment.
Body Condition: Very nice to excellent. some parking lot dings but overall very straight. Paint could use a good cleaning and waxing to show it's best.
Interior: Nice leather interior, minor tear as noted, cracks as noted.
Equipment:
Power windows & door locks
Leather interior w/sunroof
Cold A/C
ABS (4-Wheel)
Anti-Theft System
Air Conditioning
Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Power Seats, w heaters
Cruise Control
Power Steering
Tilt & Telescoping Wheel
AM/FM/CD radio upgrade with Nav Screen (working fine !)
