“In the Rolling Stones song "Jumpin' Jack Flash," Mick Jagger sings about being born in a crossfire hurricane. We're not sure what a crossfire hurricane is, but we know a Crossfire roadster when we see one, and it's a gas, gas, gas. After all, there's not much wrong with the proposition of an Austrian-built convertible with distinctive styling and the mechanical underpinnings of a Mercedes-Benz SLK beneath the surface. Especially at a price about 10 grand cheaper than the Mercedes original.”
– Car and Driver magazine, June, 2004
Developed during the union of Daimler and Chrysler, this two-seater is based on the Mercedes-Benz R170 platform which shares 80% of its components with the Mercedes SLK.
Here is a one owner, low mileage Crossfire Roadster: garaged since new, never driven in winter, in excellent condition. Finished in Black Clearcoat with a Slate Gray interior, its equipment and features include front and side driver & passenger airbags, Touring Suspension, dual zone temperature air conditioning, AM/FM stereo radio with CD player, power mirrors, telescoping steering column and more. The unmarked alloy wheels (18 in. dia. front, 19 in. rear) are shod with Continental Control Contact high performance tires (with 8-9/32 in. of tread remaining).
The power convertible top goes down or up in 22 seconds. The car will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 150 mph, and highway fuel economy of 25-28 MPG. Torque is plentiful in all easily shiftable gears, with excellent cornering and handling, befitting its German roots (built by Karmann in Osnabrück Germany, with its engine, transmission, suspension, and most other components from Mercedes-Benz), it has all the characteristics and feel one would expect.
It has a clean Carfax report with no accidents or damage reported, (the only marks are one on the rear bumper fascia and a few small stone chips on the hood), and a clear Michigan Title.
Included are all books, the original window sticker, service records, three “switchblade” key fobs, jack & tools, a set of rubber floor mats, an extra carpet mat, and a front end protector (“bra”). Recent service included an oil & filter change and a complete inspection, and it was always serviced annually.
This Crossfire Roadster needs nothing, and is ready for miles of comfortable cruising and occasional spirited driving enjoyment.
