Vehicle Description
2005 Ford Excursion Limited 4WD with 6.0L Diesel engine. Benches in the 2nd and 3rd rows. This is truly an amazing ride, especially if you need to tow. If you are like me and have several kids and need to tow, then this is by far the best tow vehicle out there. Plenty of space and plenty of power. I have replaced or updated several of the concerning areas related to this engine so it can go another 200,000+ miles. The list of things I've done is below which has cost me over $10,000 over the last year. Most expenses were proactive fixes to make it more of a bulletproofed engine, but some we're just to improve things.
The reason we are looking to sell the Excursion is that my wife and I are looking at moving up to a 5th wheel camper and of course that is only possible with a pickup. Book value according to the banks is $11,500 so this is a great deal because of all the fixes/upgrades I've put into it.
The studding of the engine alone is a $3000 job.
Work done within the last year includes:
- All 8 injectors replaced with Ford OEM stock injectors (8/2019)
- New water pump with billet propeller
- New High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP)
- New oil cooler
- New fuel pump
- New and updated versions of stand pipes and dummy plugs
- Added coolant filtration system
- Turbo taken apart and cleaned
- Turbo Y-Pipe replaced
- New coolant hose installed
- New blue spring kit installed
- EGR deleted
- New head gasket installed
- Engine studded to replace the factory bolts
- New muffler
- New touch screen stereo head unit
- New radiator
- New fan clutch
- New front end shocks & leaf springs
- New LED headlights & fog lights
- New 2007 grille
- New fuel sending unit in tank
- New chrome bumper
- New LED center tail light
- New handle on glass hatch (these tend to fade and look bad for those who park a lot in the sun)
- Installed new 6.4 starter
I also have all 4 rubber boots from sinister diesel that have yet to be installed & a brand new set of black powder coated rotors, brake pads, & calipers for all 4 wheels, including the backing plates for the e-brake. These parts alone cost $700.
There is some rust on the rear rocker panels but no where else. They of course have no impact on the performance of the vehicle. Pennsylvania inspected to 10/2020. Has 284700 miles on it but is like a new motor with all the new parts in it. Work all done by Ford Master Technician.
This truck runs great and is amazingly fast for stock components. I have the preferred $400 SCTx4 tuner on it as well which has several pre-installed tunes on it. When not towing the tuner gives you an extra 150HP and a good extra 100 pounds of torque. It also works well to provide you with valuable information while driving, such as injector pressure, coolant and oil temps. Drive it and you will know just how impressive this thing moves. I tow my 37 foot 9000 pound camper and it pulls it with ease. The tuner would come with the truck as well.
I have a vehicle history report available and can send you a link to view it. I haven't been in any accidents but the previous owner did have two minor accidents where body work was the only issue. A door and a bumper. No air bags deployed. In other words nothing significant.
