Vehicle Description
2006 BMW E60 M5 with SMG 7-speed transmission. Only about 7,400 of these were imported to the U.S.!!!
Runs and drives, but needs some work. I bought this car as a project car, intending to fully restore it, but COVID has changed my plans.
The car comes with about $2,500 in replacement parts included in this price:
- front suspension kit including control arms, ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends.
- 2 BMW ignition coils to replace bad coils causing intermittent misfires.
- 2 used BMW original throttle body actuators (these run about $500-$800 each) If you know the E60 M5, these tend to fail. The ones on the car are not failing yet, but the plan was to have these rebuilt with a gear kit and install them, then have the ones on the car rebuilt and re-sell them.
- 2 used BMW original idle actuators (these run about $600-$800 each) The ones on the car have not failed, but as long as you're in there replacing the rebuilt throttle body actuators, replacing these with cleaned and serviced ones is advisable as a preventative measure.
- 1 used ionic module. (these run $150 used and $400-$600 new) The ones on the car have not failed, but i used this one as a test module to test whether the ones now on the car were functioning properly.
- 2 new headlamp bulb assemblies with ballast/actuator.
- some miscellaneous odds and ends.
SMG3 7-speed transmission, with steering wheel paddle-shifters.
The car starts, runs and drives, and has NO rod knock .. but runs at reduced power. (EDIT: since this was originally posted, the upper VANOS oil line has been replaced, it now needs ignition coils replaced to bring it back to full 507hp).
The interior is in excellent condition, with the alcantara headliner, black on black leather, and reactive front seats (the side bolsters on the front seats move in and react to driving conditions to snug you into the seat). The car is fully optioned, including heated seats.
The exterior needs work. The previous owner scraped the driver side down a guardrail or something, so the driver front fender, driver doors, driver side rocker panel trim, and driver rear quarter panel are dented/scraped.
The paint is original black sapphire metallic, but has some oxidization.
Text with serious inquiries only. I do not need assistance selling this vehicle, and will accept cash or certified funds only.
