Between the previous owner and me (only two owners), this car has been serviced at Honda dealerships (ND and MT) at regular maintenance intervals. Continue reading below for some specific maintenance history.
This is a great car for someone on a budget or a new driver. Small and incredibly efficient drive. Other than the before mentioned cylinder head, this car is in incredible working condition, including all interior electronics.
The previous owner was literally an old lady who used it for in town errands. It has been my daily driver since 2014 (I think?) and most of my driving has been easy highway miles on many roadtrips. I love this car so have always treated it nicely.
Very comfortable in the two front seats (6ft tall). Not a lot of headroom in the back but I've done it on long trips without too many complaints. Premium audio package from the dealership is surprisingly good as it adds a hidden subwoofer behind the back seat headrests.
Great driving experience due to the car's low weight, small size, and incredible visibility. It's hard to believe but I have a easier time fitting long items like skis in the back of this car than I do some hatchbacks like the Crosstrek. Assuming you don't need to use the back seats.
Below are some specific maintenance items that I can remember having done to the car in the last few years:
New tires and brakes installed. (~Six months ago).
New Honda engine mounts installed to reduce wear and tear from engine vibration (~Two years ago, will never need to replace again).
New starter and battery installed to ensure car always starts during the coldest weather (~One year ago).
New sun visors installed to ensure they stay where positioned and to reduce vibration while driving (~Two years ago, will never need to replace again).
New center console lid installed after the previous latch broke (~Two years ago, spring and latch are perfect. Will never need to replace again).
New cabin blower motor installed as it was clicking and not blowing the AC with as much pressure as it should. AC now blows cold, hard, and quiet (~Three years ago, will never need to be replaced again).
New underbody plastic guards installed to prevent snow, mud, and dirt damage and build up under the car (~Two years ago, will never need to be replaced again, probably didn't need to replace them at the time).
In addition to normal wear and tear some specific cosmetic issues I would like to highlight are:
Chip in the driver's side fog light.
Hazy passenger's side headlight (doesn't meaningfully affect performance, but is ugly).
Factory wheels and brake calipers were painted by me several years ago. It looks okay from a distance but is a little embarrassing.
Gap in the body plastic on the rear passenger side body paneling. Should just need to be unclipped and re-clipped into the plastic mounts.
Some duct-tape residue on the center console from when the latch was broken a few years ago (I think a little goo-gone will remove this no problem).
This really is a good car, so if you are mechanically inclined (or have some tools and watch some YouTube tutorials) and think you can fix a cylinder head, this car should last you for several more years.
