Vehicle Description
Good Stuff:
Resale value. Probably the best vehicle for retaining value. Forbes ranked it #1, 91.5% of original value retained after three years. ( Aftermarket wheels.
Off-road tires with plenty of life left.
Ladder to the roof rack.
Brush guard in front.
Toyota air dam, also deflects rocks.
Factory Sub woofer installed in the back.
Easy to clean interior. It was designed for you to be able to hose out.
Brand new windshield.
Tow package.
Rock rails with foot steps.
Insane visibility. You know that situation when someone pulls up next to you at an intersection and blocks your field of view? That's not going to happen anymore.
Rare 6 Speed Manual Transmission is notchy and tight.
Took it to Miles Auto Spa yesterday and spent almost $300 getting it detailed. It is as clean as it can possibly get.
Oil was changed last month.
Power Locks/Windows.
Spare wheel in the back.
AC is cold. Heat is Hot.
Compass, Tilt Meter, External Temp display.
Cruise Control!
The paint has some very small paint chips from rocks, I think. This is a 12 year old Legit Off Road vehicle.
There is a lock on the trailer hitch that was there when we bought it. I'm going to take Dremel to it and cut it off.
The Story:
We bought this about 6 months ago from Toyota of Cool Springs. We moved to the country and my lowered VW GTI couldn't get up the driveway without scraping the nose. We're now in a situation with a 9 year old and a 70 year old father-in-law who lives with us, and who we transport in this. It's less than ideal for them because they have to climb to get in. The last straw was that my wife, who drives it, had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands. It's a 6 speed manual, and that's hard on her hands at this point, so we decided we are going to get something more family friendly in an automatic. It is breaking her heart to sell it, though. It drives beautifully, feels like a tank, is so fun and we love it.
Why you should buy it:
Toyota is not making any more of these. They stopped sales in the US in 2014, and production world-wide later. They are serious off road vehicles. There is a cult following dedicated to tricking these out into off-road monsters (that some people live out of.) Parts are the same that you get off a 4Runner, and so are plentiful. They are also reliable, like a 4Runner. You will even find some that are selling for more than what they originally retailed for. If you're curious, I would recommend checking these out on YouTube.
I'm sure there is more that I could say, but if you're looking for an FJ, you most likely know what you're looking at. Feel free to email me any questions or to schedule a showing. I live in the Grassland area, convenient to Brentwood, Cool Springs, Franklin, Bellevue, and Green Hills.
