Vehicle Description
There are few cars as famous as the Ford Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film “Bullitt.” That car became such an enduring automotive icon that Ford honored it by releasing a limited-edition Bullitt Mustang in 2001. It was a huge hit. So, in 2008 (and 2018) Ford produced a sequel. This ’08 Bullitt combined vintage styling and modern performance in a package that’s truly worthy of the Bullitt Name.
Production numbers were low with only 5,773 Bullitt Mustangs produced in 2008 (compare that to the 12,167 Shelby’s (NOT individually numbered) made the same year or the total production of 108,767 total Mustangs for 2008). Most Bullitt’s were the classic Highland Green, identical in color to McQueen’s ’68, but a few were in black.
For sale is production number 1,051 (there is only 1 #1051) of the 5,773 Bullitt’s produced in ’08. It has its venerable 4.6 V8 mated to a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission. The car is all factory stock except for the rims which I switched out recently (7/2021) for the more iconic Bullitt look. McQueen’s ’68 had American Racing Torque Thrust rims (see photo of the actual Bullitt Mustang) and now this ’08 has American Racing Torque Thrust II rims on B.F. Goodrich tires.
I’ve owned the car for nearly 8 years and it has 174,000 miles (63,000 when I purchased it). It has been garaged during my ownership of it and has NEVER been in an accident during my ownership. If you’re looking for a collector’s edition, untouched, undriven, museum quality car………this IS NOT for you.
Steve McQueen said of the ’68 Mustang in the movie something to the effect – That we wanted a car that looked like it was an everyday car, not off a showroom floor or standing out and be flashy, but with its daily driver look.
If you are looking for a soon-to-be classic, very limited production and numbered car to restore and have for future years while watching the value rapidly increase, this car is for you.
If you are a young person looking for a fast car or you are looking for a museum quality car – this car IS NOT for you and I really don’t want to sell it to you.
This car has been very special to me and I want to make sure it goes to a new owner who knows what it is and can take it to a better level than I can afford to do now.
This has been the BEST CAR I have ever had. Reliable, quick, easy to drive, responsive, well-constructed (engine transmission, electrical, body and interior).
Please don’t respond to this ad if you want to low-ball me or aren’t serious about it in general. Thank you.
