Vehicle Description
(will post pics when I get home tonight)
First off, thanks for taking the time to review my 2008 Toyota Avalon XL for sale. With the exception of the common Toyota problem of a cracked dashboard, this vehicle is well above average as compared to other Avalons from this timeframe.
Secondly. Please take the time to read the following. It will save both of us time and effort and prevent misunderstandings.
1. Please take the time to read everything in this prior to initiating contact.
2. Contacting me. The preferred method to contact me, would be to use my phone number show contact info Text is immensely preferred at least in the beginning. Please note that I work I work a job during the day in which I am fully engaged so my opportunity to respond immediately is limited during normal business hours and it may be later in the afternoon before I can respond.
3. I don’t mind answering questions about the car.
4. I live local to the White Knoll area of Lexington, SC. I work during the week near Orangeburg, SC and I travel to Greenville, SC frequently on the weekends for Reserve Drill. In arranging a viewing and/or test-drive of the car you can expect that we will meet in a public place during normal hours. For Lexington, this would be the White Knoll Publix or White Knoll HS on the weekends. If you want to view it in Orangeburg or Greenville, we can discuss it over the phone.
5. When you show up for a test drive, you will need a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Non-Negotiable.
6. Payment will be in the form of cash (which is king) or some form of certified funds from a bank in South Carolina. No trades, partial payments, strange looking cheques, etc. No, I won’t ship it or accept cheques from Nigeria.
7. I am not going to hold selling the car based on a phone call alone.
8. The title is in my name and is free and clear. No accidents, floods, salvage. Carfax available on request.
9. I will discuss the maintenance in another section, but as far as I know there are no mechanical problems with the car. All electrical systems work and there are no warning lights. The dashboard is cracking as seen in the photos. This is a problem endemic to some Toyotas from this timeframe. There was a recall for it, but it ended last year and I was not aware of it at the time. I was also too busy to look into it last year. There are normal scuffs, scratches and even a few dings on the car. Some will be pictured in the photos.
10. The vehicle was inherited from my mother when she died in 2016 with approximately 61K miles on it. We are selling it because it was always a 3rd vehicle and now it is a 4th. As can be seen from the Carfax, she performed all the routine maintenance. Since then, we have taken the car to 103k (as of the writing of this) miles. All required and routine maintenance has been performed. The simple things like oil changes, spark plugs and other fluid changes have been performed by me as I do on all of our vehicles. I am listing the performed maintenance below since 61K miles.
a. New Michelin tires were place by Discount Tire in Lexington at approximately 101K miles.
b. Battery was replaced after July 2019.
c. Transmission fluid was replaced at approximately 101K miles by Meineke of Lexington with Toyota transmission fluid.
d. Spark plugs and ignition coils were replaced at 91K miles.
e. Brake Fluid and Power Steering Fluid replaced at 92K miles.
f. Radiator was drained and refilled at 99k and 101k with Toyota radiator fluid.
g. My schedule for changing the oil was every 5k miles with full synthetic oil and Toyota OEM filter or something like Mobil 1 filters.
h. The right CV axle was replaced in 2017 due to boot failure.
i. This car has a timing chain not a belt.
11. Please see the pic of the window sticker for accessories on this car.
12. We are not in any hurry to sell the car.
