Why owning this car has been great:
- Every time I look out the window and see it, I’m reminded of how good it looks. Rare color. 20” alloy wheels. Easy to find in a parking lot.
- Peace of mind from driving a safe vehicle.
- Listed as 281 horsepower when new. Amazing, comfortable highway cruiser. Gets up and goes when needed. 2-tone, fully automatic leather seats are in good condition and fully-functional.
- Amazing sound from factory premium stereo. Never heard a stock car stereo like it, for classical or deep bass.
- Well-equipped. Even though it’s 12 years old, the only modern feature I wish it had is Bluetooth audio. It has Bluetooth phone, dual heated seats, dual climate control, parking sensors, backup camera, steering wheel controls for cruise control and audio, usb and aux inputs, huge power sunroof and shade, etc. Hot heat and cool, comfortable A/C.
- Spacious cargo area. With both rear seats folded flat, two bicycles (wheels off) will fit flat without stacking. Factory tinted rear windows provide extra privacy.
- AWD for worry-free winter driving and parking.
Other things to know:
- Tailgate handle does not work. Trunk can be opened from button on dashboard or with key.
- Big battery/drains quickly. Dealership has not been able to identify a cause. Battery will drain to where the car does not start and the keyless entry does not operate in about 7 days. The practical effect on our ownership has been to back the vehicle into the driveway when we go on vacation for easier jump starting. No effect on daily driving, no surprises.
- Paint chips (normal wear) on front bumper and hood, 2 half-inch chips above rear passenger wheel arch, first sign of rust behind front drivers wheel arch. Paint chips on hood are tiny and I couldn’t photograph.
- Has excellent service history up to 150k miles. I declined to do the 150k scheduled maintenance.
- In 2018/19, Borton Volvo recommended replacing some suspension bushings at one of the regular service intervals. Subsequent services by Kline Volvo did not make these recommendations, however bushings in need of replacement could account for the suspension squeaks at low speed in cold temperatures.
Thanks for looking. Car will continue to be driven 20-50 miles/week until sold. If you’re interested, let’s talk and make me an offer. Used car prices are really volatile right now. I’ve seen this model with fewer miles, less features and in non-exclusive colors listed between 12-16k, and kbb is all over the place.
Cheers!
