Vehicle Description
Selling my 2011 Ford F-150 crew-cab 4x4 with the 3.5L Ecoboost V6.
If you're in the market for an F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost you need to know about the timing chain issues these engines have. The timing chains like to stretch, which starts as a rattle at start-up, then progresses until they don't run, or in a worst case scenario they jump a tooth and can cause the valves to come in contact with the pistons. Ask me how I know.
The truck I'm selling has had the timing chain along with many other parts replaced with updated parts by a former Ford mechanic, which cost me around $4,500 since there were some complications, long story. Bottom line is that the engine in my truck is running perfectly with many new parts. If you're looking at other Ecoboosts there's a decent chance you'll be spending $3-4k if the timing chain hasn't been replaced.
The good:
I'm the 2nd owner, I bought the truck out of Texas in 2015 with 62k miles on it.
New spark plugs at 73k
New rear brake pads at 89k
Transfer case fluid change at 105k
Brake system and Coolant System flush at 105k
4 new Cooper Discoverer A/T3 tires at 108k, rotated at 118k & 123k
New front brakes and rotors at 113k
New timing chain kit (all chains and guides, tensioners, crank sprocket), water pump at 117k
Wheels aligned at 118k
New turbo gaskets, turbo to manifold bolt, manifolds & gaskets, head bolts at 122k
Rebuilt heads - new intake valves & guides at 122k
Oil changes with full synthetic every 5k miles
Hard tri-fold aluminum tonneau cover included - $700 new
Lockable swinging truck bed storage box included
Full set of weathertech floor covers included
Full maintenance records since I purchased
Since the above work I've put about 4k miles on the engine, both towing and normal driving, great power and mileage, no check engine lights, no issues whatsoever. Gets 20-21 mpg at 55-60, but still has 365hp and 420 ft-lbs of torque. Transmission shifts perfectly, 4wd and low range both work.
The bad:
Rust starting to show in the usual spots
Bed liner worn off in a few spots
Tailgate plastic cover loose
Lever to return rear seat to down position broke - I'll show you an easy workaround.
Interior pics coming. Miles may creep up a bit as I'm using it.
