1) Please! Do your home work...Finding what you think is a good van chassie is half the battle. Next. hold your seller accountable and ask to take the van to your mechanic or NORTH STAR. If they say, "No." You got your answer and walk away!!! Mechanically, it should to be safe and pass emmissions.
This can be an eye opening and thousands of dollars you never expected!
2) Trust but verify...Ask to see a copy of the title. See where it has been and how many owners..you have this right.
3) Put your key in the igntion and one click forward. Make sure it all warning lights up! If not, we have seen far to many check engine light bulbs either pulled from cluster or shorted out. Sellers are hiding catalytic converter codes or worse... intermitted transmission slipping!! Titling it in a non- emission county does NOT fix these issue.$$$
