Vehicle Description
2016 Volkswagen Touareg V6 Sport w/Technology For Sale
This is basically a base model Touareg, besides the fact that this one contains the "Sport w/Tech Driver Assistance" package, which includes: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning & Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist), Heated Steering Wheel, and Front & Rear Parking Sensors (or Park Distance Control (Park Pilot) as Volkswagen prefers to call it as). Some advanced features I was surprised to find on this vehicle are Automatic, Adaptive Bi-Xenon Headlights, Cornering Fog Lamps, Rain-Sensing Front Wipers w/ Heated Washer Nozzles, 8-Speaker Sound System (rather than 6 speakers in most vehicles without name-brand speakers), Cooled Glove Compartment, and the Volkswagen "Kessy" Keyless Access w/Push Button Start (on each exterior door handle, you place your hand in the handle and the car unlocks, and press an integrated button to lock the car. seems fancy if you ask me).
Under the hood is a 3.6 L "FSI" DOHC "VR6" Direct Injection Engine. On the window sticker (pictured), it states it averages around 19 mpg, and I can tell you that is true. Ever since I've owned this vehicle, I have driven mainly highway miles, and one of the best feelings is filling up the gas tank after driving on the highway/freeway for a long time. On the Multi-Function Display, it will say under the "Fuel Remaining" page that the car has 565 miles (at least that's the highest I've seen it). Now I know that doesn't mean the car actually has that many miles in the tank, but the point is, this car may not get the best gas mileage, but the gas tank is fairly large. The car takes unleaded 87 gasoline which surprised me since it is a German vehicle, which usually takes unleaded premium 91 gasoline. It produces about 280 horsepower @6200 rpm and makes it from 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds, but I think it is a tad quicker (or at least feels quicker) when the car is put into Sport "S" mode. The weight of this particular vehicle is 4,696 lbs. and can tow up to 7,716 lbs., which really surprised me for a vehicle of this size. I think somewhere down the road this vehicle shares the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne.
A couple added features that came with the car was Volkswagen's "Monster Mats" (set of 4), Trunk Liner with VW CarGo Blocks (no clue where the blocks go or how I use them), and a Roadside Assistance Kit (which has still not been used). I purchased this vehicle from a Jeff Belzer Kia in Lakeville, MN, in July of 2021. Ever since ownership, I have purchased a Cargo Cover for the trunk, WeatherTech floor liners for the first and second rows, and the trunk as well, a WeatherTech Sun Shade for the front windshield, and I also had the windows tinted on all the sides and the rear windshield (25% in the front two windows and 10% on all rear windows). I actually have purchased a set of 21" Volkswagen OEM rims (pictured) that can be found a 2015-2017 Volkswagen Touareg TDI or V6 Executive trim, but they aren't on the vehicle right now since I have the winter rims on, or the rims that come with this specific trim, so the vehicle actually could come with two sets of rims if you want.
There are NO ISSUES with this vehicle. I have gotten this car serviced at Burnsville Volkswagen and Volkswagen of Duluth in Minnesota ever since purchasing it. It is originally from California, so there is no rust on this vehicle whatsoever. No major services have ever had to been fixed. The only things I've had diagnosed was why the steering wheel was shaking at speeds of 55 mph and above, which turned out just to be a tire alignment. I also installed a new battery at the dealership in December of 2021 since the battery that was in the car was the original one from 2016. I also have installed two new front windshield wipers. There are a couple scratches and scuffs on the paint, including some painted over rock chips above the right fog light, but keep in mind this is a 2016 with 102,400 miles, which will keep climbing since this is a daily driver. The only thing that may need to be fixed (IF you care for it at all) is the front driver side window doesn't roll UP automatically, and the front passenger side window doesn't roll DOWN automatically. The dealership said it was probably the window motors, but they couldn't diagnose it without taking off the door panels. An oil change was just recently performed and doesn't;t need to be changed again until 113,380 miles. This car (ever since I have owned it from 92,500 miles) has only been hand washed!
This vehicle is very safe with all it's included safety features, but the structure of the vehicle is safe as well. The vehicle feels very heavy and doesn't have very much roll when going around curves, and you can feel it, too, in the heavy steering from the steering wheel. There are a couple of test that we're completed on IIHS.org, and from viewing those results, I think the vehicle could be considered an IIHS Top Safety Pick, or even a Safety Pick Plus, but not all the required tests we're completed to consider it as either of those.
I love this vehicle so much because it is so fun to drive and is very smooth. The interior is very quiet even at highway speeds (I think it's even quieter than my mother's 2020 Volvo XC60 Inscription.). Once the 21" rims are put back on, it probably will be a little louder, not sure. Also, the seats in this car. Oh my gosh, they are the comfiest seats in the world. It is the perfect road trip car! I'm not really looking to sell except I want to see if there is any buyer out there who may be interested in this car. The only reason I am selling is because of what I just said, and I'd also like to drive a larger car again (previous car was a 2015 Suburban). These vehicles are becoming hard to find since the Touareg is not made in the United States anymore (replaced by the Atlas/Atlas CrossSport), and I often see more 2011-2014 models on the road than 2015-2017 models.
I'm even looking to trade! If you know anyone or listing for a 2012-2014 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe LTZ, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL Denali, or Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV for sale with LESS THAN 80,000 miles-I'd be interested!
Sorry about the sideways pictures, I'll fix those sometime soon. I didn't picture the trunk because I have a lot of stuff in there :) Vehicle will get cleaned inside and out if purchased!
