Body is in excellent condition with no rust, no major dents, scratches or dings, and the paint has a high gloss shine; (please notice a dent in the trunk with paint chip) interior is exceptionally clean with no stains, no odors, no rips or tears, no smoking, and no excess wear. The car was recently serviced including a complete 4 wheel brake job including all 4 brake rotors and all 4 sets of brake pads, it has good all season tires on it now, and VT inspection is good through 8/31/22. This Sonata runs and drives great, no "problem lights" on, vehicle has great power, shifts smoothly, sounds and feels tight over bumps, goes down the road straight with no shaking or pulling, brake pedal is high and tight with no shaking or squeaking, interior cabin is very quiet even at highway speeds, ride is very smooth, everything is tight, and fuel economy is excellent. Current odometer reading is 72,232. I'm sure you noticed that the car is priced $6,500 below NADA Retail, and here is why. The previous owner bought the car in December of 2020, took a loan out on it, never paid, and it got repossessed for non-payment of the loan in June of 2021. A friend of mine who owns a local towing company got the call to repossess the car. Many months went by before he ever heard another peep from the finance company, and meanwhile there was a storage bill adding up at $50/day. Ultimately, the towing and storage bill was so high that the finance company elected to write off the entire loan as a loss instead of paying the storage and towing bill and recovering the car, which means that they abandoned the vehicle. My friend who owns the towing company was then allowed to apply for a title and take ownership of the vehicle for non-payment of his towing and storage bill. This gives the vehicle an "abandoned" brand on the title. My friend who owns the towing company and repossessed the car obviously never got a key with it, and the local Hyundai Dealer wouldn't make one for him until he could prove ownership. (This is standard protocol for anti-theft reasons.) When he went to apply for the title with the state, since he didn't have a key, he wasn't able to get an odometer reading. Therefore the only way that the state would issue him a title was TMU, which means "true mileage unknown." The car has not been in any accidents, hasn't sustained any damage, and the odometer reading actually is accurate, but the title will say "abandoned" and "true mileage unknown." So it's an outstanding deal on an excellent car with a crappy title. I have paperwork that shows that the miles are actually accurate, so I suppose it is possible that someone could get it retitled and get rid of the "TMU," but I would rather sell it cheap and not deal with that. I have the title in hand and the car is ready to be sold. You are welcome to have someone (ie. a mechanic) that you know and trust look the vehicle over prior to purchase.
