Vehicle Description
Hey there,
I have a 2001 Ford E350 Quigley 4x4 converted cargo van for sale. 137,000 miles.
Frame is solid but there is rusting on the body panels/gussets underneath. It looks like the previous owner had it undercoated with different products in different places. The waxy stuff on the frame has protected it, but the rubber stuff on the body seems to be failing.
The Good:
-4x4 works. Manual locking hubs
-6” lift
-Outside covered in LineX
-Mechanically strong. Runs, drives and steers great. No death wobble.
-Large Cooper Discoverer ATW tires
-Electric locks and windows
-Upgraded LED headlights
-New Ujoints, upper and lower kingpins, sway bar bushings, brake parts lubed and system bled one year ago, and power steering pump put in by Albany Light Truck RV. I have paperwork for all of this.
The Bad:
-I’ve been told it needs a new exhaust system. There is a hole behind the muffler. The hangers are very rusted as well.
-Sometimes it needs to be started in neutral. This is common on these vans. A piece in the shifter wears out and it can be fixed for around $500
-Possibly a small coolant leak, nothing out of the ordinary for a 20+ year old van
-Radio isn’t working, turns on but doesn’t play. This is new and I’m not sure what’s causing it.
-ABS light on (abs not working, diagnosed as bad module) Brake light on, and sometimes airbag light is on.
The main issue is the rust. The frame is SOLID but the underside of the body is very rusty. It could use some scraping/painting and maybe a little welding.
Unfortunately, I have no time to fix it up and convert it. Your loss is my gain. Feel free to make me an offer or come and see it. I work in NYC but can come up on the weekends for you to see it. $15,500 OBO
Backstory: I bought this van about a year ago with the intention of making a camper out of it but ended up getting more work in NYC and haven’t had a chance to work on it or even drive it as much as I’d like. I was told that the engine was rebuilt and has approximately 46000 miles on it now but I don’t have any paperwork or proof of this claim. They also say that is was upgraded from a 1ton van to a 2ton van and has beefier components. Again, I do not have paperwork or proof of this claim. I bought the van from a dealer in a small town and had them bring it to a garage for an inspection. The guy at the garage knew the old owner of the van and gave me this info. I never got to talk to the actual previous owner.
This thing is a beast. It’s a V10 which is already hard to find. It absolutely cruises on the highway. That combined with the Quigley 4x4 system make it an off-roading monster. Plenty of space inside for cargo or for your own camper conversion project.
