Build by Vintage Speedsters and styled after the iconic 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster, this beautiful car is a turnkey, everyday driver...and isn't that fundamentally what's most important?
• NEW paint
• NEW tires
• NEW carpets
• NEW windshield
• NEW wiper blades
• NEW battery
• NEW fuel tank
• NEW high-output ignition coil
• NEW electronic ignition
• NEW sport exhaust
Built on a shortened & strenghtened VW body-pan / drive train, this automobile is registered in CA as a 1970 VW. This makes it both CA SMOG EXEMPT and can be insured at rock-bottom pricing.
Powered by a rebuilt 1915cc, dual carbureted, flat four, putting-out between 80-90hp... depending on what you read and who you believe. That's about twice the horsepower that the original Speedster came with. (Good that it has disc brakes, huh?) Parts are readily available and relatively inexpensive. EZ enough for the Backyard Cowboy to work on and maintain.
The rebuilt transaxle is a "Freeway Flyer". The "FF" has a higher-than-stock final drive. 4th gear is 3.88:1 to allow for modern, sustained freeway driving speeds of 70-80mph. As well, the higher gearing lends itself to economy.
I average well over 30mpg!
Recent oil change and tune-up, including:
NEW cap, NEW rotor, NEW heavy-duty coil, NEW electronic ignition module, timing was set, valves adjusted, and NEW valve cover gaskets installed. Carburetors were cleaned, adjusted, and balanced
This car runs smooth and strong, throughout its power range. The handling will give you firm, secure, comfortable road feel with very tight grip.
Looks like a million bucks.
