Vehicle Description
Rare 1963 Mercury Monterey Breezeway! Beautifully designed sporty 2 door classic. Very unique rear Breezeway window that was exclusive to prestigious cars like the late 50’s Lincoln Mark V’s and Mercury Turnpikes. Works great with the click of a switch! All of the windows are great with no cracks or chips. I’ve had many classic cars and the uniqueness of the Breezeway window was my primary reason for loving these!
Had lots of work done on the car: spent $1,500 on hard to find new front suspension parts with new ball joints, bushings, sway bar, and shocks. Has the legendary 390 V8 engine and drives great! New alternator and battery. Lots of new engine parts like new spark plugs and fuel pump. I have receipts for all new parts! Straight Body, it was sanded down to bare metal and covered with black primer. The roof is painted metallic charcoal grey (needs color sanding, not my favorite color but it protects the roof in the meantime). This car would look fantastic in any color! Great opportunity for the next owner to decide on color choices and make it your own!
Beautiful and shiny 13” chrome wire wheels with rare gangster white wall style 520 tires. The chrome is excellent and these wheels can sell separately for over $1k by themselves! I have all of the hubcaps, they’re off the car but you can see them in the picture. No rust on floor boards or trunk. Solid car with beautiful stainless steel trim all throughout. Needs interior cosmetics done on the seats, the panels are in tact but have small tears on the bottom, but the headliner is great with no rips or tears. The dash has an excellent design that mimics the styling of the menacing grill and exterior trim. New glove box. Dash lights work. All exterior lights work. Breaks work good. The slant back style of the roof is unique and distinct. The extra long trunk with small fins on the tail is classy like it’s upscale Lincoln pedigree. Every part of the car is beautiful in styling, down to the Mercury Man logo on the key holder.
The price of classic cars have gone way up, so I put it at a good price to attract the right buyer that wants something different and yet classy. I just bought the side view mirror that took months to find, it is electric and will be installed by a professional soon.
Why I’m selling? I can’t decide on paint color, so it’s at the perfect stage to sell. I’m also interested in trades, I prefer 50’s style bombs or 80’s Lowrider. Whatchu got?! People of all ages admire the car and gets lots of head turns right away. Older people share special memories of people who they knew that had one, and how they used to stick surfboards out of the breezeway window! Lol! Young people say they’ve never seen one, so it’s a great feeling!
You can see the work done on the car on a YouTube video. Look up “63 Mercury Monterey rebuild ep 1” or copy this link:
This video shows the great amount of work done to get it to this point! Sanded down to bare metal and black prime for protection. It was intended for confidence in the next owner that it’s being done right, and with pride every step of the way. You’ll see where it started when I got it, where it’s at, and the exciting potential of where it can go! Compare with other classic cars in the same price range and you’ll see it’s a great investment, with lots of room to go up in value. Thanks for looking and I’ll be happy to answer any questions and to show it off. Or even give me feedback on color ideas! Clean title, registered for 2022 ready to cruise! $8,700.
