Vehicle Description
Hello Craigslist,
The time has come for me to let go of this amazing truck, 1971 GMC 2500 Custom with a Myers 6 foot power angle Snow Plow with curb savers attached. I have owned this truck for the past 7 years and it is a beast with all the sought after goodies.Below is a list of what the truck either came with from the factory, or was rebuilt and or upgraded by me. (I am an ASE Certified Tech with over 20 year experience so everything is done properly.)
This truck has lived in the mountains for the past 40 years that I know of, as stated before it's been in my possession for the the last 7 years and has plowed some of the thickest wet snow (Sierra cement) that you can imagine. I have also used the truck to haul firewood with ease. While this beast of a truck is great for those two things it is not geared for the highway/interstate; however, you certainly could drive and I have driven on the highway/interstate many a time at a speed of about 45 mph running the engine at 2600 rpm.
I bought the truck with the original 402 sbc 4bm that had been rebuilt (.030 ) the year prior to my ownership so that would make the engine a 408 I believe, it also has a rebuilt SM465 4 speed muncie transmission paired to a rockwell T221 transfer case that runs the differentials: corp 10 bolt up front and dana 60 in the rear that have a 456 gear ratio.I did change the closed knuckle front diff drum brake dana 44 to a 76 3/4 ton corporate 10 bolt to have disk brakes up front, when this conversion was done I upgraded everything in/on this differential: 35 spline chrome-moly axles, detroit locker, ball joints etc.
The truck has a rusted out rocker panel (left), floor boards and a lot of body filler in the cab itself, it's old and has been exposed to the elements up here in the sierras, I believe the rest of the truck is in good shape considering, there is also a small dent in the bed at the rear driver tail light which the lens is broken, a small dent in the driver rear lower cab by the rocker panel and right rear lower side of the bed. I backed into a small tree while plowing last year when it was dumping down.
New Parts:
All Steering components & suspension: pump, lines, steering box or (gear), tie-rods/ drag-link stabilizer, rag joint, steering wheel, ball joints (U&L) and shocks (x4) (front are coil over).
All New Brakes components: lines(hard & flex), master cylinder (disc/drum), power booster, calipers, wheel cylinders, rotors, drums, shoes (all hardware), pads and front wheel studs (16).
Coolant System: radiator (4 core brass), t-stat, waterpump, flexlite fiberglass fan, belts hoses and gauge.
Engine upgrades: entire exhaust system with headers & flowmasters welded (dual), Starter, Msd Pro Billet Distributor, Msd 8.5 mm wires, autolite xp iridium plugs, Melling high volume oil pump & gauge, oil pan and fel-pro 1 piece oil pan gasket, valve coves, Comp cams double roller timing chain, 2 piece Edelbrock aluminum timing cover, Edelbrock Performer Air-Gap intake manifold Holley 7650bl 750 Ultra double pumper carburetor, all new 3/8 fuel line with AN-6 fittings, gauge with inline 10 micron fuel filter and 2nd glass filter Topped off with a K&N X-Stream air filter.
Electrical System has not fully been replaced but works great (I did away with the amp gauge/shunt), I did however upgrade the wiring to the alternator, battery, volt gauge and starter. The battery has also been upgraded to a Blue-top Optima and has a working stereo with 6.5 components and 6.5 bazooka tube.
Tires: Are new up front (cooper commercial 10 ply tires) and the back are still good, plenty of tread and mounted to steel rims 8 lug.
Snow Plow: Myers 6 foot plow with curb savers making an overall width of 95 inches almost a exact 8 feet, E-47 new/rebuilt power angle, YES the plow articulates from left to right.
Extra Parts in bed of truck: old Meyers E-47 Power angle pump, pro comp add a leaf kit, Instrument Cluster Dash Insert, A/C compressor and a set of snow chains (4)
I have tried to be as transparent as possible with this truck and it's condition. It runs great and can plow/haul whatever is in it's way. Please only contact me if you're serious with the cash in hand. I'm sure I missed a few other items I have replaced/ repaired etc. Clean Title in my name in hand on Non-Op with NO Fees owed, just current registration $200 owed if you were to put it on the street. NO SMOG....EVER... 6K obo Cash Only.
My asking price alone, I have in receipts. $6000 obo cash only.... Please don't waste my time with nonsense. See Photos Below! Call me at 530.210.860one. Yes the plow can be easily put into the bed for long travel. (2 bolts)!
