89 Montero 4X4, A/C, PS, Auto Trans w/ Overdrive, air locker rear differential, 4:63 Factory gears.
Still has the factory silver paint- still pretty good, no peeling. It does have some hail damage on the hood & roof.
Runs very well- 3.0 liter fuel injected V6. No leaks.

You will not find another 89 model vehicle that has been cared for on this level. This is the 3rd Montero I’ve done & everything I learned on the first 2 went into this one. Specifically, using best quality parts available- mostly from RockAuto.
Engine rebuilt 2,000 miles ago.
Cylinder heads are brand NEW CASTINGS- and remarkably ITM makes & sells new ones.
(Because I learned that essentially all used 3.0 Mitsubishi cylinder heads will have cracks between the valve seats). Engine has the following new parts: rod/ main bearings, piston rings, oil pump, oil seals, water pump, timing belt, tensioner & idler, water coolant tube, hydraulic lifters, belts/ hoses, plug wires, cap/ rotor, master cylinder, front brake calipers, front rotors, brake pads. Brand new fuel injectors & fuel filter. Inside of tank was/is super clean.
Has factory 4:63 gears, with rear disk brakes & air locker rear differential.
Automatic Overdrive transmission had recent filter change 12 quarts of fluid replaced with Castrol brand import formula. Transmission shifts perfectly & no leaks.
New upper & lower ball joints- new lower control arms as well. New upper control arm pivots.
4 New Bilstein shocks.
Has Toyota AM/FM/CD player with Alpine amplifier & Infinity speakers in the front doors.
This vehicle drives very well on the highway.
Off road, it is extremely capable of climbing any grade you have the nerve to try. I’ve never taken it in the mud, but would do very well in the mud (light weight & low gears).
Very smooth on the rough terrain- new Bilstein shocks, coil springs in the rear, torsion bars in the front.
Has new super bright Hella brand headlights- (not sealed beam like it came with).
Has a custom built rear bumper built out of 6”x6” 3/16 steel tubing.
A/C works great as well.
Has small rusty areas near the right rear wheel well.
