Vehicle Description
Its time to sell me beloved 99' dinan. It has a storied history which I can tell upon demand. It has been my daily driver for the past year. This is the 4.4l V8 tuned up by dinan, not just bolt ons. This is my daily driver and it is NOT in perfect, showroom condition, but it is great for what it is, and has been previously referred to as "the most fun you can have for under 10k". Mechanically, this car is perfect and ready for the road. No check engine lights, no codes, all monitors ready - no issues, no funny business. Its a project that I have spent the greater part of the last year reviving and bringing her back from terrible maltreatment. Here is a few things I can think off off the top of my head:
The good:
-Mechanically sounds. Engine, transmission, drivetrain - all of it has been repaired and maintained. Most recently I checked the diff fluid and did a tranny fluid flush.
Intake sounds amazing. Dangerous on the LIE, the high pitched scream makes you want to keep your foot on the gas.
-Muffler delete - resonator is intact, the sound is both reasonably loud without drone while being civilized at the same time.
-Its an original Dinan S2. Dinan intake, dinan ECU/TCM tunes, strut tower bars, sway bars, bilstein full sport suspension, limited slip diff, etc. This thing handles like a champ, and sits nice and low.
-Stereo system is crazy, the sub box in the trunk restricts storage space a bit but bumps nicely. Rear seats fold down, so you can still use the rear seat if necessary. Comes with the Eonon e39 system installed - has android auto and carplay. Rear view camera needs to be hooked up, I have been lazy.
-Shadowline trim, this is an M spec car - and the headliner doesn't sag!
-Dinan Mirrors? Has the rounded M mirrors with integrated turn signals and convex glass, ive never seen these before and I dont know if theyre rare/special/chinese whatever. Either way, they are convex so you see a little bit more and have integrated turn signals.
-Front tires are new Continental DWS06, Rears are michelins with plenty of tread left.
-Misc recent repairs: Transmission output shaft bearing, transmission center shaft bearing, ALL window regulators, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, power steering lines (twice) with reservoir, full tie rod assemblies, starter, battery, oil changed every 3000m with ceratec, fluid flushes on everything else.
The Bad:
-Its a 20 year old car. It will never be a new car again. Panel fitment is good but not perfect in certain places. In addition, you can expect the usual wear and tear - scratches and imperfections in certain places.
-Suspension is still tight, but front control arm bushings are starting to give a little play - its discernable only when braking hard. Will have to be done in the future.
-Cluster was replaced under the e39 program by one of the previous owners, but this one is starting to develop some bad pixels as well - they come and go depending on the weather, you are always able to see what message is displayed regardless.
-Steering wheel media controls dont work - aftermarket stereo
-Foglights/side markers sometimes display bulb burned out messages - they are LED
-Seats have been replaced and are not the original sport seats from the car - Its a shame, I know, but the previous ones both had seat twist and the leather was completely destroyed. I have to swap the seat tensioners over, thats why the airbag light is on - this will go off once repair is done. Also, there is a small tear to the sowing on the passenger seat. Butt warmers work nicely.
-Steering wheel is not the original m-sport one and is a little worn out. I never got around to replacing it but it was never a bother. There is really nice ones you can order custom from Ireland on ebay, its the one with the 3 bolt flange on the back for the clock spring if you wanted to know - ~350$
Mileage will go up as its my daily, shoot me a text if you want to talk about it.
