* Common Transmission Problems and Tip *

1. American Old Models :

GM - TH400, TH350, TH250, TH200, TH700R4, TH180, TH125, TH440, TH425, TH325, etc.
FORD - FMX, C3, C4, C5, C6, etc.
DODGE or CHRYSLER - TorqueFlite, A488, A727, A904, etc.

If transmission doesn't want to shift up or down, you should check the Vacuum Modulator, Governor, Bend Adjustment, Servo Piston or Return Spring, Valve Body, Kickdown Cable or Valve, etc. first before taking it out of the car.

2. American Newer Models(Controlled by Computer):

GM - 4L30E, 4L60E, 4L80E, 4T40E, 5L40-E, 6L80, 8L90, 10L80, etc.
FORD - A4LD, E4OD, 4R100, 5R44/5R55, AOD, AXOD, AX4S, AX4N/4F50N, 4F27E, 5R110W, etc.
DODGE or CHRYSLER - A604 (40TE/41TE), A604 (41AE), A606 (42LE), A500(42RE), 42RLE, 40TES/41TES, 62TE, 45RFE, 545RFE, 65RFE, 66RFE, 68RFE, etc.

If you have a shifting problem, before the whole transmission rebuilding process, you should check the Solenoids or Solenoid Pack such as Up or Down-Shift Solenoids, Overdrive Solenoids, Pressure Control Solenoids, and Input or Output Speed Sensor, Mechatronic Unit, Conductor Plate(Mercedes Benz), TCM or PCM Reset, etc.

3. CVT(Continuously variable transmission) or DSG(Direct-shift gearbox) Transmissions are little different in systems than conventional planetary automatic transmission. To repair this kind of transmission, the first thing you should check is the electrical or computer system such as ECM, PCM, TCM, etc.
