Vehicle Description
Bertie is a '94 GMC Vandura (or rally wagon depending on the site you use to look her up). She started with an older couple in VA and was sold to my grandmother who drove it only a handful of times and let it sit in her yard for years. I finally got a hold of her and have had her since 2016. She's got only ~80k original miles, 30k of which I have put on, driving across the country and using her as an everyday driver going to the coast, etc.
Truthfully I don't want to sell Bertie. She's brought me great joy, trips to the coast, living in her for a year, truly very special to me. However I have a 12 month old baby and another on the way and Bertie only has one passenger seat..so not very conducive to driving with passengers.
I built everything myself and am quite proud. The bed is slightly smaller than a double, ideal for someone 5'6" or shorter, but my 6'0" partner slept comfortably. Storage built in underneath. Hand built desk. All of which wouldn't be too hard to remove if you wanted to start over.
Like I said she has been a daily driver for me, unfortunately, and I'm not going to lie, she needs some work. The interior is good and it isn't. No radio or A/C. Power windows work, power locks good. I'll show all the quotes I have gotten from Gibson's here in Portland for the repairs she needs. That being said, she runs fine and drives OK. I try not to drive her so much any more because I don't want to do irreparable damage and the gas mileage is really terrible.
Pictures show her during my build, the bed frame/storage. Her in her prime, and a bit more recently when I was still living in her. Yes, there is a bit of panel damage on the left side from where I hit my mechanics truck pulling into the shop.. so embarrassing.
Anyways I have her tentatively priced at $5000 to see what sort of interest I get and will go from there.
Thanks for reading! Sarah
