You're always propelled by an electric motor. When the battery is depleted the gas motor spins a generator to maintain a 5% charge.
Range is rated at 53 miles per full charge but that is for ideal conditions. Temperature and your speed affect range. I typically get 45 miles on my commute at 70 mph.
My last two oil changes were two years apart because of the low miles on the gas engine.
I buy gas (9 gallon tank) every three weeks.
