This former ambulance has been converted to a unique, functional RV. It is the ultimate adventure vehicle, suitable for cross-continent adventures, weekend getaways or Burning Man.
The ambulance was purchased directly from a municipality in rural, eastern Idaho. It was fleet maintained and saw little action, with 60,000 original miles on the odometer. Over the last year we have converted it into a custom camper. The functional tasks of adding a convertible double bed (folds up into a futon-esque sofa), a window, a stereo and a tow hitch have been done. Red lights covered up per California law. It’s up to the buyer to personalize it and make it their own.
The chassis is a 97 F350 with the legendary 7.3L Powerstroke diesel. This truck, with this engine, and extremely low miles, is very hard to find. The truck is smog exempt in California, and gets over 15mpg on the freeway with power to spare. Dual gas tanks give it a range of nearly 500 miles. We had the truck reclassified as an RV instead of a commercial vehicle which makes for much easier (and cheaper) insurance and registration.
It is not a 4x4, but has dually rear wheels with all-season tires. The weight of the rig, coupled with the dually wheels, negate the need for 4x4 unless you plan to do extensive off-roading. This vehicle lived most of its life in rural eastern Idaho, and is built for cold weather.
This rig is clean, straight and turn-key. The engine and transmission are designed to last you for over 300k miles. Everything about this rig is overbuilt and designed for commercial use. I have a full mechanical inspection performed by the Ford dealership in the last 2 months available to (serious) interested buyers.
I am looking for a cash buyer. You most likely can not get financing for this vehicle, as there is no line item on finance forms for former ambulances. I have had multiple buyers fall through because they couldn't get financing.
