Vehicle Description
This is a 1995 Daihatsu Hijet mini-truck imported from Japan. Daihatsu vehicles are essentially Toyota and many parts are interchangeable with Toyota models.
Details:
- 660cc engine
- Fuel injected, 3-cylinders
- 3-speed automatic transmission
- 4WD (with diff lock toggle switch)
- Air conditioning
- Odometer shows 109,570 km (68,083 miles)
- Speedometer is in kilometers per hour. The max speed is 110-120km/hr on flat ground (about 70-75 mph)
- Steering wheel is on the right side of the car; shift lever is in the center (left hand of the driver)
- Engine is built into the truck bed
- All sides of bed fold down
Some work that I have done since importing the truck:
- Installed new battery
- Steam-cleaned interior
- Replaced seats
- Changed engine oil / filter
- Changed transmission fluid; cleaned transmission solenoids
- Changed rear differential fluid and new oil seal
- New wiper blades
- New spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and ignition coil
- New AC drier; recharged AC system; new AC belt
- New fuel filter, cleaned fuel injectors, new injector O-rings
- Disassembled and cleaned air intake, throttle body, and associated sensors
- Disassembled, cleaned, and re-greased transmission shift sensor
- New capacitors on the engine computer, power steering computer, and automatic transmission computer circuit boards
- Touched up paint on rear truck bed doors; replaced many screws and bolts in truck bed with stainless steel
Something to note: while driving, it is necessary to shift into low gear when going up hills or when trying to accelerate quickly from a complete stop. The AT computer isn't very good at downshifting on its own.
I have already taken care of all of the import inspections and paperwork so that it has a clean Washington state title and can be registered and insured like a normal car. It has turn signals and headlights and license plate mounts and is fine to drive on public roads in Washington and Idaho.
If interested, feel free to let me know if you'd like to test drive it or if you want any additional photos.
NOTE: if you are above 6'2" in height, your shins will probably touch the dashboard and you won't be comfortable driving this car. I'm 5'10" and the car is just about as small as I would ever want one to be.
